Luckily it ain't a heap of work for me - I just monitor a small number of PIDs (4-5) with OBDLink or Forscan and then capture the bluetooth packets and look through them in wireshark and compare with the values reported by OBDLink or Forscan.

I do pretty much the same although I'm connected to the HS1, HS2 and HS3 BUSes directly, looking at the RAW CAN with DEWESoft, open and close stuff, press buttons etc. and watch for the changing bits and bytes. I find it quite interesting but I've wasted far too much time on it building a list of data that I'll probably never use.
