Winch/Dual Bat Wiring questions.

Hi, sorry, i did try a search, but couldn't find the answer i was looking for and please let me know which parts i have wrong.
So, as per the instruction manual somewhere, it stated that electrical components need to be earthed on the body, so as not not to interfere with the battery monitoring system.
I Also read somewhere that if 2 batteries are connected in parallel that they would never receive a full charge, effectively eliminating the ability to use a voltage sensing relay to connect the 2 batteries.
Ok, so i need to buy a DC/DC charger fine... but how do these things effect the winch wiring.
I was planning to install a 2nd battery, and run the winch off that, but im left wondering:
1. If i were to connect the winch direct to the main battery, should i just go Pos to Neg, as it is not a constant on device, and will likely pull more power when in use than the 'normal' earth strap could probably handle.
2. If i connect it to the 2nd battery, after the DC/DC charger, then i can see no problem going Straight across the battery, but will the charger keep power up to the battery, or will i be winching away, have the battery die, and then have to wait for ages for the charge to come back up again?
Also, where is everyone hiding the 2nd Battery in a dualcab PX2 with tub?
Thanks in advance.
