Front Park Sensors

Hey Guys,

Seeking your thoughts on this.....

Had the PCM updated on Tuesday and since done I have had issues with the inner right sensor.

As you can see in the pic my front plate sticks out from the bar by about 25mm up until the update it has not been an issue, now every time I put the car into reverse or drive I get the beep and straight to red, take the plate off all good, put back on, adjust and away it goes again. Same distance from the sensor to the plate on the left hand side and I have no issue there.

So the question is how can an update affect one sensor and create an issue that wasn't there prior, there are no DTC's in Forscan and I can't see any way to re calibrate them.

Ideas???

Cheers

Jason

Do what I did, trim the bottom corners off number plate.

Just sticks out enough to be detected by the inner sensors

Yes but it isn't too clear to me on a tablet and the car is dark.

I only suggested it because you mentioned it is fine with the plate removed.

That's the issue, prior to the update it was never a problem

My guess nothing to do with a PCM update, probably just a coincidence.

The sensor doesn't have to move much to go whacky.

PCM update has no influence on the parking module which is part of the BCM.

As you have said the number plate appears to be causing an issue so there would not be any DTC.

I'm not sure if it is plausible to drop the plate 5 mm or not and although strange and no doubt a pain as Ross has said it is a coincidence.

So now it just seems to happen on random occasions, today I have had periods where it is not a problem and then 1/2 hour later it won't shut up....F*cked if I know!

Its plausible the sensor is faulty. I had a rear do it a long time ago then after about 2 months it came good and never happened again.

I think my problem was due to water around the sensor though.
