Can some one direct me to Stewart's post where he states clearly that Sync and map updates are two separate features, or can Stewart reaffirm same?
Reason, a compulsive lying service manager is giving misleading information and some are believing him
Have used the search bar and read numerous posts re Sync to no avail

Sync and maps are two different things to my knowledge
A Sync firmware update can be done without a map update and visa versa
My Sync was updated 3 times but the maps weren't touched as there were no later maps to update

Yes agreed. You can update sync yourself, but not maps. Maps can only be updated by a dealer providing they have the required and up to date memory stick. Ford also provide you with 7 years of free map updates, but I'm unsure if that's dependent on having Ford service your car.

Very old Sync 3 version will require an update but either way it is all by USB and dealer drive will generally sort it.

Unless you pushing for something that is not factory standard on a pre my19.
