Aftermarket stereo - battery saver mode

So I installed a Kenwood stereo unit into my MKII XL. Now when you have the key turned to accessories the stereo will turn off after around 20 seconds. It never did this with the standard stereo unit. I have been told that the aftermarket unit draws more power so the circuit gets shut down to save power.

So my question is, am I able to change this setting as it is really annoying? Is it possible to turn off battery saver mode?

Thanks in advance.

In full it cannot usually be shut down as it would affect every other module also.

Do a test by pulling the plug on the BMS module (shunt) on front negative battery terminal. See if this has any effect, ignore any errors for now. We could then tell BCM it that this module does not exist then no errors.

I'll give that a go when I finish this swing at work.

If it is battery saver mode, why do the 12v outlets stay active?

The Sync unit wake and shutdowns via canbus messages, its plausible because the BCM is not seeing messages from the sync system it believe it is off so shuts the circuit off.

Wire the positive wire to another area that is switched with accessories, may like the cigarette light socket if it stays alive or another accessories point and use a relay depending on current draw.
