I have no argument with the "keep it simple" philosophy but the looking at the boost pressure on your phone/tablet -- when you're driving ???? Surely not Ross - that's dangerous and possibly illegal unless your phone is mounted on a cradle for easy viewing in which case surely its the same as having a 50mm gauge ?
The PX1 modified turbo on my Wildtrak puts out around 35psi maximum, that amount of pressure is never going to come close to splitting the alloy cold pipe.

Pressure has nothing to do with what I am saying, movement, hot to cold cycling stresses all metals.

I monitor many things using am 8inch tablet, very quick and easy to see.

Ignore the tyre pressures, wheels haven't turned in 4 days.

I can have as many pages as I want, any size & colour.

The set ups are endless.

Illegal, can't be anymore illegal than tuning your car for more power which uses more fuel and increases pollution output over manufacturing specs.

I know my vehicle is mechenacilly legal, but I am sure there are plenty that aren't.

Like every thing, it's only illegal if you get caught.

I might be wrong, but I think Iainboyd was referring to using your phone or tablet while driving, not the modifications to your truck.

He also said using a phone/tablet may be illegal.

I pointed out there are plenty driving with illegal mods on vehicles.

Looking at an 8inch tablet or a 52mm gauge is no different, the tablet is quicker to read than a gauge.

A phone or tablet is not illegal as long as it's in a holder and only displaying what they term as a 'driving aid' and not videos etc.

Fitting the pipes takes about an hour.
I don't need a bigger inter cooler.
I only travel in winter so things run fine.
I only upgrade things if I need to, waste of money other wise.
To fit an intercooler to my car would require the removal of bullbar, winch, grill etc
I have no interest in taking that on but if I towed in summer I would consider paying someone to do it.

true i didnt think of bullbar/winch but for most just a grill removal will do.

fit the full plazman silicone pipes now also so feel a bit safer as my old ones were looking a bit old, glad to get rid of that plastic hot side dont think that would of flowed very good with tight bends and allot longer than the silicone replacement.

Depending on the bullbar. I fitted my intercooler without removing anything except the top plastic radiator to grille cover. Would have been so much easier with grille removed but achievable with it in place. I have winch, bullbar lights etc.

As dangerous and as illegal as disconnecting your passenger airbag ?

Based on the price difference I went with the Harrop Intercooler last week. Got the hard pipes as well.

Was hoping it would be an easy fit as described above, but alas. Took me about 6 hours all up and I had to remove the bullbar. Got that removed with the assistance of gravity, but needed to call a mate to reinstall.

My bullbar is an Ironman and when it was installed, they left the top of the bumper skin to mate with the bottom of the grille. I could not even get the old intercooler out without removing all of this gear as the intercooler hit the bumper skin and would not disengage with the thread in the rad support. Perhaps because of the air scoops.

Had to ditch the air scoops which contained an air temp sensor and the digital radio antenna as they were butchered when the bar was fitted and broke when they fell out. Dont have digital radio anyway.

Had I known I had to remove the bar, I would have done it differently and prepared lifting gear to support the bar while I replaced it. Too late now.

The Harrop unit looks pretty good as does the hard pipe set. From my knowledge they have a pretty good rep for quality.

Fred.

No mate, sorry. I did do some low flying a long time ago, but that was in a car.
