Lets wait for what others have to say but as far as I know, there is no option to manually turn it OFF/ON.
One way I can think of is to wire-in an extra toggle in series with the seat belt switch.
Disconnecting the seat belt switch will set a light in the dash and will deactivate airbag for that seat. Just turn off the seat belt chime so it wont bother you.

Some overseas models had an option for a manual switch although ours do not.
I can give codes to tell the RCM module that seats, seatbelts, airbags, pre-tensioners etc are not present or present but I will not guarantee the outcome of whether it deploys or not.
I will have to think about this a little really. Can I ask the reason why you would want to disable this?

Thanks Stewart, my dog normally sits in the front seat (little staffy) although he is harnessed i would like the air bag not to deploy in the event of a crash

Use at your own risk. I cannot test this as such and have no intention to try and set my airbags off and try.
I would manually unplug the passenger side front airbag and then when you get a fault code and airbag light stays on then use the below code to disable the fault.
RCM 737
Passenger Side Front Airbag
737-02-01
x7xx-xxxx-xxxx - Present
x5xx-xxxx-xxxx - Not Present
Passenger Side Curtain Airbag Front
737-02-01
xxxx-xx3x-xxxx - Present
xxxx-xx1x-xxxx - Not Present
