Can anyone tell me how to stop the "Tow Assist" from coming up ?? I've looked at the wiring and I'm damned if I can see any breaks, exposed wires moisture etc. but once it rains the indicator on the dash goes into double time and its bloody annoying

I do not believe turning off tow assist will help at all.

You need to plug in and see if there are any faults codes and if not then you either have a faulty trailer module or issues with your wiring. If you do not tow, try removing and insulation the trailer plus wires to see if it resolves the problem.

Stewart, I published the photos I took of the crud that had ended up in my 12 pin trailer socket. Since replacing it and ensuring it never gets water in it again its all good.
Many thanks to you all for advice.

I had my indicators go crazy & when reversing it would think i had a trailer on when i didnt. Ended up being water or sand in the plug. WD40 sprayed in then contact cleaner fixed it
