Thinking about getting a long range tank installed in the Everest in the next few weeks. Would love to get the ARB frontier poly tank, however they don’t do one for the Everest. The current front runner is the Brown Davis installed by TJM in Perth. Problem is they don’t / can’t recalibrate the fuel gauge.

Anyone know where I can get it done in Perth, or any volunteers who live in the area? Reasonable compensation will of course be entertained......

I had the same issue in Adelaide and I ended up buying a cheap laptop.

You are looking at a tank now but there are plenty of mods you can do to your Everest.

Forscan is free and so is the extended license.

Hi Tezza.

I'm likely to have it in Perth (Near Joondalup but on the coast) in a week or so. I need to use it for some things on my Ranger and the easiest thing to do is just get it myself.

I'll let you know when I have it up and running.

I ended up buying the dongle last night and on the hunt for a laptop now (any suggestions?) found a 11.6” 4g ram, 64gb hard drive running windows 10 for about $270.
Figure I may as well control my own destiny and give it a crack myself. Hopefully I don’t wreck anything.......

I have also signed up on the forscan website. Do you still need the extended license or is the standard one ok?

Which dongle did you buy, this is the preferred one.... http://www.obdlink.com/mxbt//

Providing the laptop and dongle have Bluetooth you should be set.

If you put the dongle in the second port it can be left there.

You will need the extended licence to access & make changes.

I purchased this one which by all accounts should do the trick. $27.50 vs $180 is hard to argue with.....

I have one of those as well, the OBDLink is handy because I can leave it plugged in and connect via Bluetooth.

I also can monitor with a tablet

Thanks James, appreciate the offer. As mentioned above, I ended up purchasing the dongle and laptop last week, so I will give it a crack and see how I go. New tank is getting installed Monday.

Ok, so new tank went in today and as a stroke of luck the Dongle also arrived today.
I already had Forscan and the extended license preloaded and ready to go.
Pretty happy with the change. I changed the fuel tank size (went from 713dte to 1106dte.)
I also enabled the new fuel economy menu / screen.
I had no problems connecting, it all worked out pretty well 😁👍

Ok, question for the technical experts,

I have just filled up the new long range tank for the first time, couple of notable things.

1. I got 1,002kms out of the tank at an average of 10.8l/100km
2. I put 108.55lt of fuel in (until I could see diesel in the filler neck)
3. The fuel gauge went to red and dte to zero when I had done about 990kms.
4. The dte went up to 1,120km once full

So all in all, pretty good, based off the above and readings seem pretty accurate, however......

1. I believe I have a 125lt tank (120lt usable)
2. I know it fits at least 115litres (possibly more) based off the fill receipt I received of TJM when they filled it for the first time.
3. I have keyed in 122lt tank size into Forscan (4C4) which gives me 1,100+ range in theory.

So my question, is as follows....

Is the missing 10lt+ a program setting (eg tank size change in forscan) is it the way the float arm is bent, or is it something else? While not the end of the world, I would like to use every last drop in the fuel tank if possible, otherwise my 50% increase in tank size is really only 35%

It is the way the float is bent. Fuel level is an analogue input from the sender and fuel tank size in the IPC has no bearing on this.

Change your IPC fuel tank size to 125lt if it is a 125lt as DTE will be closer, this will also depend on tyre size of course.

Won’t increasing the tank size to 125 make the dte further out of whack?
Assuming the float arm isn’t bent enough (as technically there is 10lt+) left in the tank, wouldn’t I be better reducing the tank size to say 110/ 115lt to make the dte more accurate?

At the moment it says I should be getting 1120kms, yet given I was only able to get 108lts of fuel in, when the fuel gauge showed dead empty means technically I fell 100km short f what it was predicting (I got just over 1000kms out of this tank)

I am running standard Everest Trend wheels / tyres (for now)

DTE relies on how much diesel is being injected vs km travelled. Try both ways but do a manual calculation of diesel used vs km, do not rely on the average fuel economy for true figures even though they are close.

Ok, so I have changed the fuel tank size to 125lt, so will see how it goes.
Interestingly, I also tried changing it to 115lt and for the 3 tank sizes
Old - 122lt
Test - 115lt
New - 125lt

My range (dte) did not move off 1115kms.
I would have thought it would have moved up and down like it did when I originally changed from 80lt to 122lt......
