Hi All. 2018 PX2 Wildtrack
Had a weird occurance last week, wondering if anyone else has had this happen.
Monday used 4L to traverse a muddy track, Select 2H when leaving the track.
Turning off the track Tyres squealed a little (which i now release was it still being in 4wd) but i put it down to mud on the Tyres, all lights were normal and indicating 2wd.
Drove it around all week without really noticing, only commuting 1km or so.
Had to drive 75KM on Saturday at 115KPH.
Upon getting off the Hwy, noticed a sound like a dragging brake pad or a piece of tin dragging along under the car, stopped to investigate, nothing found.
Drove a little further with the noise still evident, stopped off the road to diagnose, a mate noticed me stopped and stopped past, upon checking under the car, he noticed the front CV's were spinning when moving (Not sure if this is normal?)
Used this as a guide and selected 4L, drove backwards and forwards with no noise evident, select 2H and confirmed the noise had again stopped.
Has anyone had this happen?
Any idea what i might have broken binding the thing up at 115KMPH?
I've since selected 4L and 4H on a dirt track and it seems to be going into 4wd correctly, could it have possibly not completely disengaged the noise was it grinding after binding up?
If you've had this happen, did you have any luck with ford covering any required repairs?

2wd, 4wd is done in the transfer case so yes CVs will turn because the wheels are turning.
Should be nothing binding at that speed. Can only suggest it was in high 4 and not hight 2. L4 to H* should always be done in nuetral and H4 to H2 pretty much any speed.
Cannot say I have had the noise issue though.

I know mine takes a few seconds, and requires I drive straight while coasting (or very light throttle) for a few meters (like 10-15) before it will come out of 4H. If you turned at all and were on dry pavement you would have known immediately that you were in 4x4 still. It will buck and chirp, at speed you would probably hear a distinct Tyre squeal noise from the inside Tyre(s).
Its still possible that the actuator got disconnected from the shift motor and thought that it did the shift (it's basically limit switch controlled), but that would generally not be a temporary problem.
