I have 2015 Everest with occasional dual 100 Ah AGM battery & WAECO in rear + caravan with 12V to 12V charger & 100 Ah AGM house battery.

When I bought the Everest I was aware of the BMS issue, so rather than wire a solenoid myself I approached the local Ford dealer who were of no help, but directed me to a local auto electrician who they said knew how to do this properly.

As far as I can see they have fitted a simple solenoid, as I would have done, but I'm not sure what else was done to counter the BMS.

Having said that, on a relatively short trip, both the rear battery & caravan battery did look to be charging OK.

Having read this thread, I would like to be able to read the battery state DUAL or SINGLE and be able to change it, as a lot of the time the EVEREST runs with only the cranking battery in.

I have used FORScan lite (Android) with my OBDLink LX - I see lots of modules - but not the BMS, and no sign any dual / single battery parameter.

Is this because I have the LX rater than MX OBDLink?

Will I need to change from the LX to MX if I want to read & change these system parameters.

I'd also like to disable the driver door chime - but I can't find that relevant parameter either - even to display.

Any help or feedback appreciated.

Cheers

John

You will need to change to the MX.

You will not be able to see the IPC with the LX hence why you cannot change that parameter.

The auto elect would not have changed any parameters in relation to the BMS, so it will still be at the fatory settings. If it is working and you are happy with the charge your batteries have then leave it alone.

I ran a V/A/SoC test today - the steady state after around 30 min of driving - with only the cranking battery was

Voltage 14 V
Amps 4 A
SOC 74 %

So it looks like whatever the auto elec has done has stopped the alternator from cutting out when the cranking battery is fully charged, hence the reason my secondary batteries are charging OK when they are connected.

I guess I need to decide whether to upgrade to the MX - for most parameter streaming the LX is working fine - now using FORScan - Lite.

So nice to have easy access to these types of basic measurements now :)

I would still like to get rid of that annoying driver door chime though!

Thanks for the feedback

John

Mine does exactly the same with similar figures and a simple solenoid. I have not changed to dual battery mode.

I think you will find the BMS will be sensing the draw from the main battery. Remember everything is sharing the same earth and everything including your additional batteries are still monitored to an extent.

I think you will find it will not be disabled unless they had a Ford dealer disable it. Early in the peace no after market scan tool had the facility to change these parameters and its possible they still don't. Ford IDS was the only way apart from Forscan.

What modules can you currently access with the LX?
