So I used my new but old Warn Zeon winch for the first time on the weekend.

Standard tyres with 50k on then do not work go up slippery grass and clay, so Ranger stopped and while trying to go back down the front quarter panel moved to within a metre of a fence post.

Got my mate to reverse back and hooked my winch to his vehicle and what a winch, faster, quieter and worked so effortlessly.

Its the item you once a year and it the one time you can say it has paid for itself. Insurance from damage 2 times would out way having a winch any day.

Great investment.

Those zeon series look the goods, a lot of bull bars don't seem to be compatible with them though

Mine is a tale of woe and eventual resolution.
When I had my Wildtrak customized in 2017 pre-registration my list of specifications included a Warn Platinum Zenon Winch with their signal enhancement kit (+$350).
The second time out the winch ceased to work. The Wildtrak went back to 4X4 Offroad and they found that a wire had snapped off on the PCB of the enhanced signal kit so back went the standard PCB and off went the damaged kit for replacement. Then we got told that Warn are/were no longer supplying that kit ( obviously I wasn't the only casualty ) the winch still wouldn't work with the standard PCB installed and it was decided that there was a fault in the electric clutch mechanism and gearbox and the entire assembly would need to be replaced.
Well that was on the 26th of June last year !
It worked intermittently from that date onwards failing more times than it worked and finally on the Gibb River track last year when we got stuck in soft sand camping next to the Pentecost River it failed and never to work again and its only today, 07/06/2022 - almost a year later, that ARB were finally able to replace the clutch and gearbox assembly simply because Warn were reluctant to supply the required assembly parts -- it would have been cheaper for them to simply replace the entire winch instead of paying ARB to remove the bullbar, drop the winch, dismantle it, reassemble it with the new clutch and gearbox assemblies, test it on the bench, replace it in the Wildtrak and then re-test it when it was installed - crazy !!
Anyway its back in, it's working - for the time being - and if it ever fails again then nothing short of a complete replacement will suffice.
ARB repaid me with a direct cash deposit for the "never-to-be-replaced" Warn Enhanced Signal Kit at their cost price and to cover my year long frustration presented me gratis with a ARB Premier "Essentials" Recovery Kit which is up for sale on this site and on Facebook Market-place as I already had one.
