I have a new ranger raptor with Sync 3 system, when I connect my phone via car play I have noticed If I exceed 10kph the software will not let me select all the artists / playlists etc on my phone , it only shows a limited menu. If I drop bellow 10kph the menus change and I can access all the music again... is there anyway to disable this feature with forscan (I don’t even know what the feature would be called)
I have searched on here and google and can’t find an answer.

It is normal. It is an Apple thing to stop people dicking around while driving. No change in Forscan will remove it.

This was really bugging me so I have spent some time researching it online, there is limited information besides people with the same issue trying to resolve it.
It seems though that it doesn't happen for everyone, it depends on the vehicle and the country you're in.
The apple car play software is capable of locking out the full playlist selections etc once in motion, BUT something from the vehicles system is sending the message to tell it do this.
Some people have reported success by tricking the cars system into thinking it's in a different country (probably not the best solution but shows it might be possible)
Do we have any evidence that this is 100% apple related? I can't see how the system would know it's in motion without the car sending a signal unless it's using the phones GPS.

You said you can't access your phone above the speed? that will be Apple restricting that. The car will not send signals to block the phone itself, but the sync3 has features that can't be used while in motion. I'm sure if you jailbreak your phone, you might be able to get rid of it on the phone side but who knows.frequin wrote:This was really bugging me so I have spent some time researching it online, there is limited information besides people with the same issue trying to resolve it.

No, all the features of the phone are accessible at any speed including when connected via USB and using car play , no lock outs going on with the handset at all.Bushbasha wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 7:15 am You said you can't access your phone above the speed? that will be Apple restricting that. It's on the screen of cars head unit in the car play software that the issue occurs. It locks out at exactly 10 kph, the same speed that non car play related features in other menus in the sync system lock out at.
Thats why I'm thinking there must be something in the vehicle sending a speed signal to the sync system that tells it to lock out certain features when exceeding 10kph weather they are car play related or not.

There is nothing that can be changed in asbuilt or elsewhere to overide it.

Ford itself is limiting the functionality whilst in motion, which is annoying. All 3 other vehicles that I use including my truck for work all enable the full functionality (scrolls all albums, artists, etc) even whilst driving at any speed. I wish ford would change this as personally I find it more dangerous and distracting.
