I didn't want to hijack the other similar thread so hope its okay I make my own.
I recently got some almost new PX3 wildtrak lights from a 2022 model. My ranger is a 2015 PX2 XL.
I was hoping to get them install on my PX2, but not sure what hurdles I might run into. I am prepared to do some creative wiring and I have a scan tool with forscan on it.
So my question is, am I going to be able to get everything working correctly, or would it be a waste of time to pull half the front end apart lol? I basically have 0 knowledge about what might be needed. The otherguy seemed to already have it in and was just working out some kinks.
Cheers for any help.
EDIT: for anyone who finds this post, this is the finished product. Thanks again to Saeb!

I will do a proper write up on exactly how in 2 to 4 weeks.
I have purchased so new PX3 LED light myself and will most likely also do the manual levelling switch.
In general they are a straight swap over but DRLs will work off the parker circuit without wiring changes, I hope to minimise wiring runs by making the patch across to the DRL circuit at the BCM rather than the engine bay.
You will need to make BCM asbuilt changes and it is all on the forums currently.
Basically I will put the process here on what will work in a simple guide. * Note this will be based on LED lights and not HIDS as found in the earlier lights but again the information is on here.

Received my lights and replacement headlight switch with manual levelling yesterday. You will not need to do this part if not required.GenieMan wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 9:29 pmAwesome! Bench tested lights last night and either way they will require a new wire run from the BCM to the headlights for DRL to function in full, otherwise if you are not fazed about this then parkers still use the DRL LEDS but not at full brightness is all.
Have ordered some plugs for the motors on the headlights.
Have a couple more things to check in case I need to order anything else, then will look to fit.
Being I have a bullbar they will suck to do so time frame to do might be a couple of weeks away.

Quick update and keep in mind this is on an XLT, XL should be the same though.
Headlight plugs do not have the DRL wire in pin 7 (expected but confirmed). I could chase genuine plugs from a wrecked vehicle but in this case it is easier to purchase 2 x patch harnesses ( https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/284397299240 ) which I can then tap the DRL wires into.
Again this is only if you want true DRLs then you will need these. Do not order direct off Lightforce as postage is added. I received free postage on eBay with the product price being the same on both sites.
You will also need my DRL pin kit to complete ( wp/product/drl-pin-kits/ )

Hi Stewart. Do you have a recommend source for the PX3 LED headlights, or is it a matter of trawling the wreckers?

Either Facebook market place, sometimes they pop up or wreckers but nearly never as most have front end damage.
I ended up buying off eBay from London, low milage if not new. These look brand new and are RHD. Offered them 100$ under what they wanted and had them 1 week later.
I never realised these are LED low and high so happy about that.
Will install this weekend and look to do looms for DRLs and height control soon afterwards.

Cool. Just checking, is that the JB3B 13E01[4|5] AA part?

Keep an eye on FB Marketplace. Saw a set out of Syd brand new for $300!!! They wouldn't post so I ended getting another set from Syd $660 posted. Have seen prices between $300 - $1200 over the past year.

How did your install go?
I just got mine installed today, (I also had a bar to take off so was procrastinating) glad that all the standard lights just work with the standard plug.
Bought your DRL kit and the Lightforce adapters as you recommended, so I’m going to have a go at getting that all set up tomorrow. I just want to confirm, are there as built changes I have to make to get the DRL working or is it all in the other menu now? Little bit confused with the as built stuff as so far I’ve only made changes in the other menus that have options to pick from.
Cheers.

GUIDE TO REPLACE HALOGEN HEADLIGHTS TO FACTORY LED.
Will install these tomorrow and finalise DRL wiring and height motor adjustment control at a later point.
This will not include a how to swap the actual headlight. Different front bars, brands etc. but you will see the mounting holes on the new headlights so what needs to be removed would be self explanatory.
MISC. ITEMS OF INTEREST TO SOME.
Low, high, DRL and parker are all LED.
Indicators are incandescent globes.
Current draw per light ( Only to .0 amps as good meter is hiding )
DRL 0.5 amp
Low 1.5 amp
High 0.3 amp
Parker lower than .0
Factory Ford wiring for the low beam on factory HID and LED headlights use a relay. It is entirely up to you whether to use a relay per headlight or not. Worst case the LED driver fails and back feeds the FET in the BCM and kills it, though doubtful. My thought is Ford kept the original HID loom rather than start building pre HID looms again due to re tooling costs as the high beam LEDs are wired directly to the BCM and not through a relay anyway. HID lights used a halogen globe for high beam so the trend continued with the LED high beam.
*** If you are using this article to install HID versions of the headlights, USE RELAYS ON LOW BEAMS!! If a ballast blows there is a high possibility of damaging your BCM.
HEADLIGHT WIRING
If you do not want the DRLs then the lights will use the same row of LEDs for parkers but just have a lower light output. This is then plug and play and you can skip the below and move on to the asbuilt section.
Make you life easier. Headlight plugs do not have the DRL wire in pin 7. You could chase genuine plugs from a wrecked vehicle but in this case it is easier to purchase 2 x patch harnesses ( https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/284397299240 ) which you can then tap the DRL wires into.

Once you have the patch harnesses ( one per light ), cut their red and green wires off and tap into the pin 7 wire. Easy to find and it is next to the empty pin 8 position. I chose to solder a 400mm wire for now and will continue the run at a later stage back to the BCM. Solder and tape the area appropriately. This is not a how too on best practices, good solder joints, good tape, good cloth tape and quality convoluted tube does go a long way though, although best practices would use quality crimping over soldering.
DRL TO BCM WIRING
Your vehicle will not have the wiring to the BCM nor the pins in the BCM plug. I have a kit in the store here for this purpose which includes installation instructions so it will not be repeated here. Basically you pin 7 headlight pigtail will be wired into the cabin and to these BCM pigtails. DRL pin kit is here ( wp/product/drl-pin-kits/ )
ASBUILT CHANGES
Due to the low current draw and with factory LEDs and HIDS working through a relay the BCM will shut down the circuit if it see abnormally low or high current draw. For this we need to change asbuilt with Forscan, all changes here will be based on asbuilt and not non-asbuilt. I prefer to do all changes in full and not partial so although not every change is required I will list every change.

***** The above is based on MY15 to 18 BCM firmware. There are additional blocks in a MY19+ for DRL. If you have an issue with XL, XLS MY19+ we can deal with it at the time.
As noted above I only change a few items. I may go back though and do the rest later. Everything works and is fully functional.
Only difference I will do to many is I did install a replacement light switch with levelling control so I built a complete loom to the cabin with the additional wiring and plugs. This is a not a have to as everything will function without it.
Feel free to ask any questions but this is all I can fit in today and just completed the wiring today.

Probably easier to just follow pin kit guide for the DRL asbuilt changes. Just make sure you turn them on in the lighting menu is all.

I just simply couldn’t wait until tomorrow, so I am happy to say that with your excellent instructions I have been able to get everything working perfectly.
I cant thank you enough, have a case on me
I only have one final question;
I have these led lights on my bull bar:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/26290420436 ... media=COPY
Are you able to advise if it is safe to connect these to the DRL wires I ran from the BCM? So that they function identically with the DRLs in the headlights (e.g turn off the white ring when the indicators come on)? Just want to make sure this isn’t going to damage anything.
Previously I had them wired into the park lights but are disconnected at the moment.
If it is safe to wire them into the DRL wires, will they still be illuminated when the DRLs are dimmed (such as when the headlights are on at night)? Or does the dimmed mode use the park light wire?
Cheers for all your help mate.

Being that they would draw next to no current they should be fine.
I did not look close enough yesterday to see if DRLs and parkers use a separate row of LEDs in the DRL panel or the same and dim. Easier to have another person watch the change over when you change the light switch to manual and see if they are separate or the same and just dim. If they do dim then your cheap DRL drivers may or may not cope with the BCM PWM output.
Worst case the circuit shuts down and you remove them, reset DRL circuits in Forscan if required and you have an answer.
Later........
Thinking more about it, the DRL circuit never dims, it shuts down and then parker circuit takes over when the headlights are on. So you are going to have to select one circuit to tap into and they will be on or off.

Cheers for the update, I have changed this also. Didn’t notice last night as I was only putting in ignition during my testing,
Ended up wiring the bull bar led to the DRL circuit, seems fine so far. This is probably better option for me anyway as they are quite bright at night so better to just be off.

Hey Stewart,
Is it possible to have the DRLs be on while the headlight switch is in the OFF position?
That way if I really want to turn them off I can just use the option in the lighting menu.

Can do but we have to remove cluster menu option and some BCM options.

Hi Saeb,
Thanks for doing this write-up, I'm just waiting for my lights to arrive, bought them from the UK seller on ebay.
I was just wondering if it would be possible for you to document the wiring to allow the light hight adjustment?
This is a feature that would be very useful.
Thanks again for all the work you do.

I just used an Everest light switch, yes it has rear fog light switch and could well be used to trigger another light from the BCM if required.
Wiring for headlight control below.
The headlight plug is numbered and you will tap into pin 1, 4 and 9. Bonus is at least in my XLT that these wires did exist so I did not need to add any pins. On an XL and XLS I cannot answer if they will be there.
My loom (less the headlight wiring) consisted of 3 wires from the LHS 3 pin plug all the way to the headlight switch wiring at the plug. The RHS 3 pin just taped into this loom as it was passing. There was no point splitting it to do an earth in the engine bay and was cleaner and easier just to tap into pin 4 at the headlight plug. Same with pin 9 the positive side.
Some may opt to only run the the one violet wire and terminate positive and negative in the engine bay but being the loom I made also had the headlight wiring there was really no point and is neater anyway.
Plug below is the motor plug. This is the plug side with wires out the back. Mixing 1 and 2 up will not end the world but may trigger a DTC or a FET to shut down, it is not recommended anyway. Check 5 times and do it once.
I have 4 more motor plugs I think, they were not expensive and can supply if someone wants some. Just be prepared all my post goes out express satchel which saves me the time I have none of so allow $12.30 is all.
