Anyone wired a canopy window sensor to the factory "door open" warning system?

On a number of occasions I've arrived at the office in the morning to find my wife or kids (of course it wasnt me!) have failed to close the side windows on my canopy (ARB with the pop up side windows) and they've opened at some point during the drive. I can easily mount a proximity sensor to the canopy to provide a warning, but rather than adding an ugly warning light or buzzer, I was wondering if it'd be possible to spoof the standard "door open" warning on the dash and make it come up as if a rear left/right door had been opened.

Before I spend hours taking things apart, has anyone done this previously?

Easy done as it is earth trigger and a closed circuit activates door ajar.

Bonus is it is earth trigger so no problems with shorts and can be wired at the bcm with no issues, no cutting, just splice into the existing door trigger point you want.

Pin 21, 46, 19, or 33.

I would just use an alarm tamper switch on each window with a custom bracket, neat and tidy without getting technical.

Thanks! Your diagram makes it so much more obvious than the one I have!

An added bonus of doing it this way is the alarm should sound if triggered.

I am going to do this! On our last trip to Tassie I left the tailgate open and lost a small suitcase. This would of solved the issue of a nagging noise from the passenger front seat!

Anyone had success with this? My issue is not so much door up (although has happened a couple of times) but I locked keys in canopy on a beach a few hundred Km’s from home with the auto relock function not sensing the canopy had opened.

It's still on the to-do list!

Hi!
It seems to me that open circuit activates door ajar. I'm trying to do this on the tailgate and adding a led strip so when tailgate is open, it also is illuminated. The problem is that a closed circuit lights the leds (tailgate open) but open circuit activates door ajar... Was thinking about a relay but can't figure out how the original door ajar could work.

I'm a chippy by trade so not very experienced with electronics tho...

Edit:
Anyways got it done. Installed a bonnet switch for the LED and a small magnet sensor for the ajar.

Nice work for a resolution. Well done.

I have never implemented so can only go off the factory diagrams.
