Custom PID Calculator

Any changes, fixes or new data should be posted in the appropriate threads and it will be updated.

NB This can can be used in your browser on your mobile device and swiping left/right will allow you you view all details.

100% tested and working mgauges will go here. This will eventually fill with existing and never seen before gauges. As I get time to monitor the CAN BUS I will add more.

If there is a specific gauge you are looking for and if the vehicle supports it then start a new topic and make a request. Some things do not exist, like EOT for instance. If you monitor this you will only get what it provides and that is only on off ( oil pressure, no oil pressure ). *PX3 should support this now.

I spend an immense amount of time finding these and providing working solutions. Think twice about posting them all over the web and bring people to the site with a link instead. One it helps to build a community where answers to problems can be resolved and two it gives people an opportunity to make a small or large donation to keep the site up an running to share this information. Helping the site helps you enjoy your vehicle to its full potential.

Could be a stupid question, but is my understanding correct in that you cannot monitor EGT on a pre-DPF model as there is no sensor?

No such thing as a stupid question mate... but yes, I believe you are correct in that pre-DPF models do not have the sensors to be able to monitor EGT.

Have added the others to the calc including the EGTR sensor which is located on the exhaust manifold and applies to all pre and post DPF PX2/3 models. Pre turbo.

Every single EGT probes the vehicle has is now on the calc.

Afternoon.
First off thanks very much for the time invested in all this.
Secondly just added a few of the above gauges to my scangauge and discovered a couple not working.
Scanguage has just been updated to latest firmware and vehicle is a 2020.25 Wildtrak.
Triple checked that I inputed the codes right, so hopefully I'm not at fault.
EGRT comes up as 2047 at cold idle, I haven't gone for a drive as its obviously reading wrong.
Alternator Current Output does not read.
Battery current does appear to be reading.
Didn't try any other EGT inputs as really wanted the preturbo.
Anyone else having drama's on a scangauge or have I stuffed something up.
Thanks in advance.

For EGTR 3.2 it will definitely work. 2.0 untested and unknown if the sensor is there. I have just checked the 2.0 PID for this engine though and it is definitely the same as the 3.2 if the sensor is there.

For alternator the PID is different. Try this and let me know the result.
07E0220551
046285050651
3010
000100020000

PID will be correct but maths may not, I do not have a 2.0 handy to test.

Thanks for the reply mate.
The new alternator PID reads, but is around 140-150, could it just be out a decimal point? Still seems a bit high tho?
Have driven the vehicle and the EGT doesn't move, just sits on 2047.
Would it read at all if the sensor wasn't there?
I'm going away for work for a week or so, I might delete that EGT pid and re-enter it when I get back that should hopefully establish whether I've entered it wrong.
Thanks Brett

Rightoh, I thought I would test all the available gauges just so we have a list of what works and what doesn't, on the biturbo.
Alternator Current Output = Won't read on PID in drop down list. Will read on new one supplied by Stewart, however doesn't appear accurate.
Battery Current In/Out = Reads not yet confirmed accurate.
Battery State of Charge = Reads and appears accurate.
DPF Blockage = Reads and appears accurate.
EGR Open % = Reads and appears accurate.
EGRT Pre Turbo = Reads not accurate.
EGR Post Turbo 11-13 = Reads appears accurate.
EGR Temp Sensor = Does not read.
Fuel Temp = Reads and appears accurate.
Intercooler Temp = Reads and appears accurate.
Transmission Temp = Reads and appears accurate.
Hope this helps.

See also a similar list I did for XLT 2l https://www.saeb.net/viewtopic.php?p=10220#p10220

Interesting your ERG open % is accurate, mine shows random 4 digit readings.

Oops, I didn't see that thread, I should be posting there.
Feel free to move my posts to that thread if appropriate Stewart.
The EGR % appears accurate, reads 3 digits with a decimal point, maybe check your inputs?

Is the same sensor just different PID. First one I still need to confirm on a PX3 and second one, I believe PID was removed from 2.0.

Hi Stewart,

Just wanted to check if these PIDs are suitable for a 2014 PX Xls ranger? First time looking at them and don't want to stuff things up.

Thanks for supplying us with these resources, folks. It's appreciated.

I've just only started to learn this stuff. I got a cheap Android phone and an ELM327 dongle off of ebay to start with.

I installed the Torque Pro app. Now a lot of PIDs work and a lot don't.

Now, I'll be towing a van with the Ranger (19.75 PX3 3.2l). It was recently fitted with the usual things, anderson plugs, brake controller and so on.

One of the concerns is how the transmission performs in hot weather. The other is the electrical system and alternator performance.

There are two ATF temps which I monitor. Both read differently. Talking to a mechanic mate who's familir with this stuff he says that it's probably measuring before and after transmission cooler temps. So, that's OK.

I haven't had the chance to test the latter as the van battery died the other day after we hooked it up. Drawing a ton of amps and sizzling. Waiting for a replacement before I can test the Ranger's charging (it'll need to run the fridge which draws around 20a).

So, with all this in mind I installed the PIDs from that drop-down database. The following don't work:

State of Charge: has a yellow dash in the middle of the dial, no data being displayed
Alternator Output: shows 0.0 with a pulsing green dot next to it
Battery input/output (that is, charging/discharging) shows "no data" on the dial.

I double checked the PID info and the calcs.

Today I bought another OBD dongle. This one is from Jaycar. A fellow on one of the Ranger forums has one and his display that he posted shows SoC. So maybe that'll work.

Also, none of the tyre pressure PIDs work but that's not a biggie as I can display that on the Ranger's dash if need be.

Thanks.

Update: with a new dongle from Jaycar, SoC, battery charge/discharge now work. Some fuel economy ones have stopped working. Tyre pressures now work. One Transmission temp doesn't work but I installed one from that page on here showing different PIDs for different applications. One reads 91 degs on the road, the other around 85 degs...

So, I don't know which one is measuring what.

I bit the bullet and bought an MX+. Hopefully I'll get it before we go away. Look forward to seeing how it performs or what it can do compared to the $10 ebay ELM and the $70 Jaycar one which I bought yesterday.

Hey guys, I've just moved over to the iPhone to monitor the engine. I'm using the OBDLink app.
I've started with the electrical system and battery charge/discharge.
How do you enter a negative value (for battery discharge) in the iOS app for OBDLink? I can only see a numerica keypad with no +/- signs.

Thanks
