What are your thoughts on the little multi point scan units, are they worthwhile at around $100 a pop ?

I have a Foxwell NT204 code reader and code clearer, it cost me $70 three years ago.

I used it on a VE Commodore and the Territory, haven't tried it on the Ranger.

What prompted me to buy it was the Holden dealer.

Rang him and explained we were going away in 2 days and an error light has come on, need to get it checked.

Dealer said they are booked out for the next 3 days and can't look at it.

How long does it take to scan?

About 10 mins.

None of the 15 mechanics care spare 10 mins?

No, plus when we do it it will cost you $96.

REALLY....click

The one I bought cleared the code, and it never came back.

The one I was considering was the EDS Scangauge. Just to see coolant and fluid temperatures, alternator voltages, etc. nothing flash, just monitoring the systems

EDS is a clone of the Scangauge. I would say China cloned an earlier firmware version etc.. As far as I'm aware scangauge will with with it ok. From memory 4wd supacentre imported it so make your own decision. My decision would be to buy the original and support them.

Personally I would get an Ultragauge over a Scangauge. You will see my ultragauge comments around the forum.
