Hi guys
Today the ranger stopped!! First time ever
Driving along and the car cut out for 1s or so, no lights just cut on and back on again. It did this a few kms up the road again while cruising at 80kph. Then I pulled into the driveway and it stopped completely and wouldn't restart.
Couldn't believe it, I had half a tank of fuel and hadn't filled up for a week, however first thing change both fuel filters. Which didn't look bad, no dirt or water. Hmmm
Crank, crank, crank, nothing then a spanner light on the dash.
Very frustrating as I didn't have my phone or computer to read the code.
Anyway when i did connect and read codes P0089 - Fuel pressure regulator A performance??
Not sure what was actually faulty it took 2 attempts to reset to get the pump running and then to bleed up the system to finally start.
Have driven around for 1hr or so and no issues?
Before this happens again any ideas what would be fault?
Thanks
Glenn

My guess is fuel pressure sensor or fuel pump SCV.
A fuel pressure issue should show pretty clearly on a decent scanner.

Is there a PID to monitor the fuel pressure in the rail to test?
I have no faults or errors at the moment and it runs fine, assuming it will fail again at some point

There's about 5 PID's covering Commanded pressure, Actual pressure and Temp.
I don't typically use FORscan for data logging, but it should have these.

Well today it stopped again and wouldn't reset, the only good thing was it happened to be near a Ford dealer who has the vehicle now and suggest the low pressure pump in the tank.
Lets see how this all goes, under warranty still. The dealer did make a comment about the larger tank
