Roller shutter installation

If the two wires that go to the 2 switches (cab & rear) work as they are supposed to, then they must be OK. This just leaves the 3 wires that run from the roller shutter control module to the hall sensors on the roller shutter. Issues with the sensors or the wiring would certainly explain why you can't initialise. Have you tried metering out the wiring to see if everything's OK - could be worth a try? I have no idea how you test a hall sensor, but you'd expect them to be OK?

One last thing. I wired mine according to the wiring diagram that Stewart supplied, and it worked without issue - so this is obviously the correct one for new control modules (like yours and mine)

Finally got mine working correctly. I too thought it might be a hall sensor issue so I removed the drive motor and connected a 12 volt supply to the motor and wired up the hall sensor, with a meter I got a varying voltage out put from the sensor as the motor rotated so it seemed to be working. I reinstalled everything and it still would not initialise. So I connected ford FDRS program with a “fake” vin which allowed me to run the module installation program and that fixed my problem and now it works correctly. So as you discovered even though it does not show up on Forscan it is in fact connected to the mscan as FDRS connected and programmed it.

Any ideas on why I didn't need to run the module installation program on mine? A friend's thinking about installing a roller shutter on his and I said I'd give him hand. I don't want to have the same issues as you did as I don't have access to FDRS at all, so I wouldn't be able to fix it like you did.

By the way, that was a pretty good effort on your part - you must have been stoked when you pushed the button and it ran correctly for the first time!

Only thing I can think of is that I purchased my control module online and it came from Switzerland. So maybe it was originally programmed differently to the modules here. My next step is to try and get the shutter to work from the remote. Waiting for a 3 button remote to try

Hey mate, how did you get on with the remote?
so I purchased a 3 button remote from ebay, got the local locksmith to cut the key (got ripped off $55 to just cut the key the remote only cost $60) but not program the remote. After a couple of tries with IDS and PATS I finally managed to program the remote. it locks and unlocks the doors as it should and starts the car, but the third button does not operate the roller shutter. I set up a table in forscan to monitor PIDS for "number of remotes", "remote battery condition" and "last button pressed". If I press the third button table shows liftgate/decklid as the last button pressed so the remote is working correctly but the vehicle is not responding. I changed decklid to electric in BCM and liftgate to electric in BCM but still no action. I am currently recovering from COVID (got hit pretty hard as am on immune suppressing medication) so have not been near the vehicle for a while. If you or anyone else has any input it would be appreciated. So until I get some energy back and some more ideas it will be on hold

OK... so I purchased a 3-button remote from the same guy on ebay. I have a PX3 with the keyless start/stop button so I had to get the smart-key for that. I was able to program the key easy enough by placing the 2 original keys and the new unprogrammed key in the rear drinks holder one at a time as I cycled the start/stop button on and off - that's a pretty handy feature. However, I ended up with the same result as you - the remote will lock and unlock, but the lid button won't do anything. I've tried enabling/toggling everything I can find in Forscan in the BCM, APIM, & IPC, but no joy. I copied you and set-up a table in Forscan to check the new remote, but everything looks OK. One slightly odd thing about the new key though - I have a set of Clearview electric side-steps on the ute (I love them!!), which are wired into the canbus. When I unlock the ute with the original remotes the step on the driver's side only will drop down. The step will also retract when you lock it. However, the step will not drop down or retract when using the new remote, only when you open and close the doors as normal. It's an odd thing to happen, but it suggests that the key is not registering with something?

So it doesn't look like I'm any closer than you are

Following on from the above... I'm wondering if there are parameters in the radio transceiver module (RTM) that need programming to allow the remote fob to operate the roller shutter? Has anyone ever carried out a programmable module installation (PMI) on an RTM, or know what the programmable parameters are on the RTM?

One of you send through saved asbuilts, will make changes and return. Whomever has their new remote programmed in.

I know what data in all modules are so will save any guessing or breaking is all.

Please forget the word PMI, it seems to be getting thrown around a lot lately, not just here without know what it does or does not do.

Send via PM at this point and will make the changes over the weekend.

OK - for anyone that's been following this thread it looks like I was going down the wrong rabbit hole with the RTM. It turns out there were changes required to be made to the BCM asbuilt. Luckily saeb (Stewart) came to my rescue and made the changes to my BCM asbuilt for me. And he did all this before breakfast! My roller shutter now works exactly like OEM with a working keyfob remote that will open and close the shutter. I'm pretty stoked really - my XLT is now one step closer to being a wannabe Wildtrak (just need the leather interior, 4WD, roof racks, and a host of other stuff...). The original 2-button keys (lock/unlock) still work as normal, so now I have 4 working keys. I'm kind of curious as to why the new 3-button keys won't operate the electric side steps when you unlock the ute like the original keys did. But this is a small sacrifice in the grand scheme of things and probably won't effect anyone else.

Hi guys, thanks for the doing the hard yards to figure this out. Can someone point me to where I can purchase a RSCM or a part number for the next gen ranger.

Wrecked vehicle is probably best bet.

Any other integration, whether looms are there etc. I cannot answer.

Hi All

I managed to get this info from my local Ford Dealer after getting the part number from Stewart, it may come in handy for someone else, ignore the pricing as it will probably be different in your area.

looks like the Module is in the electric roller lid and not under the seat on the Next Gen Ranger. The module is listed as 14H119.

Would be surprised if the main module is in the roller shutter unless it is on the same bus as blis. Your attached doc shows it is under the dash. The grey part is the firewall.

Hi Stewart

my bad, you are correct. i will tinker around with my new ranger when it arrives hopefully next week it been on order since April/May. i was quoted NZ$240 + GST for the module which is not bad, i was expecting it to be higher. no to just figure out the wire harness needed or if i should make my own.

If it is under the dash then it will use the main dash harness at a minimum. That is your starting point as it would be a nightmare to replace it and probably require dash removal. From there it would go left down to LH kick panel then another loom and at least one more after that.

All, one or none may have the required wiring. Good luck :)
