So, I'm relaxing and sitting back at a caravan park.

Whats more relaxing than plugging in for awhile.

This one took about 2 hours to sort but I believe it is the PID for the current clamp near the alternator. I can actually bet it is!!

Again you will not find this PID anywhere else and is a first.

Now remember this is current, NOT voltage, so whether dual battery mode is on of off it will always fluctuate.

1. I have the vehicle on charge and there is approx .03 amp feeding back through the cable that the current clamp is on.
2. I borrowed a lead from the park and have free power :)
3. Chart shows before starting, starting, lights turned on and off 2 times. Line 201 and 241.
4. We just got a free sausage sizzle :)
5. Some revs put into the engine

I will do some UG, SG, OBLink, Torque PIDS shortly but calcs look like they will give me fun for a while yet so disregard the vertical axis numbers at the moment.

This is a hard one to compare as I have to put my own current clamp/meter on the cable while monitoring the PID.

2 different devices refreshing at different speeds make it hard to keep up and both will never equal each other 100%, so took a video so I can pause at set points.

Have setup UG with the PID and calcs and it is basically identical to my current clamp/meter. UG does spike here and there but it is so slow in comparison to my meter. Once everything settled it was a little easier to compare but I say it is spot on with what the vehicle clamp is reading anyway.

So for all those that want to know how much current the alternator is putting out vs what the BCM is allow the battery to accept this will help.

Included pics with Battery State of Charge, BMS Amps In/Out, Alternator Current Output.

You can see the BMS is allowing 23 amps into the battery with 30 odd amps running the vehicle and part of possibly going to my second battery.

If people want to test this before I move them to the appropriate areas.

This returns 2 bytes of data so is a high resolution figure and will show down to .01 of an AMP.

You will find most if not all OBD readers will never keep up with the rate of change as the figures are changing way quicker than even 100 milliseconds. So one second could be 20 amp then one second later 50 amp.

I can read down to 10 milliseconds on another device and it is pretty smooth.

Just tried it with OBDLink Stewart

It started on 60 and sat on 53 when it setled after about 15 secs.

The Amps In/Out was showing 25+

Im running a Scanguage 2

No decimal places

It will all depend on current battery % and the current load.

I can see 70 plus on startup and once warm 0 to 10 amps if battery is good.

It is 2 bytes so I say yes there should be a decimal.

As per RXF: 046205D10613 <----- xxxxXXxxxxxx I'm unsure what makes this a decimal. It will probably be what divides by 10 or 100 which should get you the correct figure.

1st pic is 10 seconds after startup and 2nd pic in after 1.5 minutes. It was still coming down.

On the above, I will get back to you with some finer control once I have an email back from ScanGauge.

Scangauge
TXD: 07E022D113
RXF: 046285D10613 <----- xxxxXxxxxxxx Note change 8 instead of 0
RXD: 3010
MTH: 000100020000 <----- xxxxxxXXxxxx Note change. divide by 2 instead of divide by 20

This will move the decimal 2 places.

Have still not heard back from Scangauge but I tested this and it works.
