I'm looking for recommendation for workshop in Perth metro area to flush transmission fluid, please.
I was out on the weekend and went into limp mode whilst 4WD'in in sand dunes on the weekend - Transmission Temp got too high. The frustrating thing is I've had an upgraded transmission cooler and the thermostat by-pass valve installed. I never went into limp mode prior to the upgrades. Does this seem odd?

Assuming same driving condition before and after upgrades.
With thermostats in Engine cooling you cant just remove the thermostat, the system needs some restriction otherwise the coolant can flow through the radiator to fast to cool. As the transmission has a full open? unit that replaces the original thermostat that should not be an issue? Once the trans gets above 100c ? then that mod will not likely have any benefit compared to the original as long as it has the same restriction.
The original trans cooling is coolant cooled so now you have air cooled? Your radiator has a fan shroud so that air has to come through the radiator. The external trans oil cooler is, I assume out front of the radiator, intercooler and condensor. As only the radiator has a shroud air may not be drawn through the trans oil cooler well by the fan, it needs vehicle speed for air flow, something the coolant cooled unit did not.
For slow speed sand driving you could perhaps look at a thermofan set up to push air through the oil cooler.

Did you consider a deep alloy finned sump instead of the air-to-fluid cooler they hold about 6 litres more ATF ?
I honestly think it would have been a better alternative, my ATF has never gone above 90*C since I fitted mine and that's going over sand dunes in the Simpson last year (pre Covid-19) as well as touring all over Fraser Island -- you can see and order them on afepower.com the part number is 46-70170/46-70172 Ford 6R80

Alloy finned sump is a waste of money, all it does is delay the inevitable by 15 minutes.
No matter how much fluid you have, once it's hot, it's hot.
I have 2 surveyor friends who fitted them, no change in running fluid temps.

This may sound strange but get Ford to do a scan.
I had limp and slipping issues a while back and I was told the EGT Sensor on the manifold can cause this to happen.
Had mine scanned, sensor was faulty and replaced and the problem never came back with an added bonus of snappier throttle response.
