Just wondering if anyone has build their own throttle controller?
In theory it shouldn't be too hard - just remapping the signal input = new output.
I assume the throttle sensor just outputs a variable voltage? or is it a digital stream?

Think it is PWM digital to analog from memory. It is hardly worth the effort.

Why hardly worth the effort? do you think throttle controllers are pointless?
I know the biturbo throttle is a lot different is sports mode.

As in time. As in time is is far cheaper to purchase a dedicated unit. Correct plugs and built in adjustability.

If you have the knowledge and the time then sure, go for it.

I bought the iDrive controller for my Ranger, and I am confident that I could not have researched the requirements, bought and tested the components, built a prototype, and been satisfied with the results for less than the US$209 it costs now. Now that I'm retired, time is the one resource I can't buy, so I don't allocate it on items that I can buy. When I was younger and working as an electronics engineer on military projects, with access to a large electronics engineering suite, I would have not hesitated. But not now.

Probably true but more likely to be the cost of the connectors rather than the smarts. a $10 arduino will do it - just need to connect it and understand the input. At the end of the day yes not cheaper in time.
I guess the bottom line is are they worth the money on a biturbo when sport mode does much the same?

Its each to there own. Some like 10, 20, 50% throttle at 10% peddle movement and some do not. It's a personal thing.

For me I have a modified throttle curve anyway but tend to back it off with the controller on slow bumpy roads.

I find the iDrive most useful when I go beach fishing.
Set it on ECO 2 - 5 and it reduces the urge to wheel spin.
