Gerry or anyone else with a MY17.

Next time you put your head under the car can you look at the wiring colours going to the EGT sensor.

I'm certain that Pre 2017 can add the sensor and have it show as a factory fitted EGT sensor.

Stewart, had a look this morning and there's a sheathed, black cable running (to somewhere?) from the actual pyrometer. I was unable to follow it to any sort of connector and without cutting the sheath at the probe, there's no way of seeing what's inside.

If you have any idea as to where this probe lead ends up, I'd be happy to look further mate.

Ends up at the PCM. PCM has provision for 4 x EGT sensors. Maybe I will get one at a later date and try them all.

Thanks for giving it a go.

Thanks Michael. We are looking for the colours for the rear EGT sensor. It is behind the DPF on a MY17 Ranger or an Everest as that can be monitored.

But you have come up with a possible win. Blue/Brown appears to be EGT1 so now the difficult part is finding the unknown PID that EGT1 belongs too.

Was this physical check or from wiring diagrams? Need physical checks.

I have hope but I need a few hours for that one. I wish Ford would use the same PID for all their vehicles and its not in their own software either.

The winning colours will be;

EGT1 - Found. EGT on exhaust header.
Blue
Brown

EGT2
Violet/Orange
Blue

EGT3
Yellow/Orange
Grey/Blue

EGT4
Brown/Violet
Yellow/Green

I would bet that Yellow/Orange Grey/Blue is the colours for the rear EGT on the MY17 or Everest, so lets add one to the pre MY17 PCM and then we can look forward to having Pre and Post EGT's through UG, SG and Torque.

It was a physical check. Sorry no DPF on my model.

Thanks Michael. It gives me hope in finding the undocumented PID.

AH found it.
Here's extract from 2011 - 2016 wiring manual (cant vouch for it though).
It declares 3 EGT sensors

HARNESS 14K039
Appears to align with EGT2 above (based on the wiring loom color code)

Post DPF Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor (G1404186)

HARNESS 14K039
Appears to align with EGT3 above (based on the wiring loom color code)

2011.05 wiring manual 303-14B-29 Duratorq-TDCi
Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor (G1408808)

I'm still going through the unknown PIDS, waiting on a test feature that Forscan are implementing for me to start logging them a lot quicker so if it has a PID it will show when I get to it.
