I use this when towing a trailer as I have Genuine Ford Ranger sensors in the trailer tyres. Keep in mind that if the vehicle see them missing it will throw a TPMS error. This can be reset on the instrument cluster and it will continue to monitor the remaining 4. The error will happen about 10 to 15km into a drive. I'm unsure if it will repeat every 10 to 15km but will find out tomorrow night.
As I do not use the trailer much I revert the asbuilt changes when back home and only enable when away with the trailer.
6 is the maximum. The BCM cannot fit anymore than this.
Parts EV6T-1A180-CB. Last 2 characters may differ depending on the revision.
Purchase your 2 sensors then go and get them fitted, make sure to get a wheel balance while you are at it.
In Forscan BCM asbuilt make the following changes;
726-40-01 xxxC-xxxx xxxx TPMS Number of Tyres. Change "C" to either of the following 4=4 tyres, 6=6 tyres. Yes you will currently have 4.
You will need a training tool. Read here viewtopic.php?f=25&t=298
Tyre programming order is;
Left Hand Front
Right Hand Front
Right Hand Rear
Right Hand Trailer
Left Hand Rear
Left Hand Trailer
For Scangauge add 2 more Xgauges;
Trailer Right Side
TXD: 0726222817
RXF: 046285280617
RXD: 3010
MTH: 0001 0002 0000

TXD: 0726222818
RXF: 046285280618

For Ultragauge add 2 more Mgauges;
Trailer Right Side
TDATA: 07262228170000
TCTRL: 93 RCTRL: 31
RPOS: 2010 MTCH: 622817

If you are using torque or OBDlink apps then copy your other tyres but change the PID to 2817 and 2818.
Enjoy.

Didn't try it but I wouldn't do it.
Problem is the 5th wheel will never be turning and the sensor will stay sleeping. So you will also get the TPMS error even if you could do 5.
They way to do it is leave it a 4 but put a sensor in the spare then when you rotate the tyres do the 30 reprogram and your'e done and with no errors. The spare will never rotate and will just sleep until it's rotated and programmed in and on it goes.......

Makes sense, forgot it won't pick up unless rotating.

Stewart,
What about a caravan with Tandem axles do you think you can do 8 wheels?

Option is for 4 or 6. No more unfortunately, I have tested 8 and the BCM will not accept the change.

This is great, I can't wait to get some more sensors and try it out. It will be a great option for my customers who have Rangers.
I was fairly confident that it would be possible, since F trucks with dual rear wheels also run 6 TPMS sensors on Sync3, even though the local Ford dealers assured me yesterday that this is impossible.

It is impossible with their tools. F trucks have had it in the BCM whether it be Sync2 or 3. You could add extra sensors to a current Mondeo if you wanted to be different.Bikeboy76 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 7:21 pm This is great, I can't wait to get some more sensors and try it out. Hi Stewart,
In your first post above you said that you get a warning after 10 to 15 km but were not sure if it repeats. Did you ever find out if it does?
I am just about to set this up on my trailer for an upcoming trip.
Thanks Steve

Yes it will continue to repeat and is why I need to change the BCM back to 4 sensors again when I'm not towing the trailer any more.Fred2112 wrote: ↑Wed May 09, 2018 8:46 pm Hi Stewart,

Just reviving an old thread as I am interested in doing this for my caravan (2 wheels)
Is it possible to get a check box up on the right hand screen to activate / deactivate the extra two sensors under the tpms menu. Would be perfect if you could......

No its not unfortunately, so although it is a manual process it is more practical when towing continuously for a week or so with small trips in between without it in range. I generally only turn mine on when I'm away for a week or more.

No worries, thanks. Each time you change from 4 - 6, do you have to do a relearn on all tyres with the training tool? I would love to be able to do this, as I will be doing a half lap of Aus in the next 6 weeks for 3 months so it would be really beneficial. Just don’t know if I can be bothered with the activate / deactivate via forscan every day when I unhook the van and go sightseeing. If there was a dash setting it would be perfect.

I usually do out of habit but it may not need to be, try it.
Worst case if you are driving without van on in between the you will just get the tpms light after about 10km of travel for the time the van is not on, so you don't have to turn in off if you don't want to.

I used this recently on a trip to the Kimberly with a camper trailer and can confirm that you don’t have to do the relearn each time. You do get the warning but as Stewart said you just cancel it and keep going.

So, just to clarify, if I don’t turn it off, I will just get a dash light after 10min when I disconnect the van, and once acknowledged, the light will just remain on the dash?
Then, if I revert from 6 back to 4 and then go back to 6 again a week later, the memory will be retained in 5&6 and there is no need to do a relearn on any wheels Is this correct?
If so, I can live with that, so might give it a crack. I will be monitoring via a scangauge.

Approx 10km.
Don't acknowledge it as it will then come back on 10km later. Just leave it lit.

Hi, not sure what you mean by revert back to 4. I just left the computer at 6 wheels all the time. You get the warning because it can’t find the pressure for the missing 2 wheels when the trailer is disconnected but still get an accurate reading on the 4 car wheels. Connect the trailer back up and get 6 pressures again with no warnings.
I am not sure how it would work if you reprogrammed the computer from 4 to 6 each time you disconnected the trailer.

That’s what I mean.... if I don’t tow for 1 month, and I don’t want to have the light on the dash every time I drive for the month, I would then revert back to 4 sensors in Forscan to disregard the van ones.
Fast forward a month, if I go back into Forscan and reactive the 5&6 sensor to tow the van again, will it pick up where it left off, or do I need to do another relearn on the 5&6 wheels?

I have a 2019 Ambiente with no TPMS. If I bought the pressure monitors for the tyres would my current BCM module support them? Or would I have to upgrade the BCM?

Yes, get your sensors fitted the there is a change in the IPC and BCM non abuilt to perform. You will then require a TPMS training tool to finish off and happy days. Depending on your budget I have them here wp/product/tpms-sensor-training-tool/

This is my take on what to do if you want to use TPMS sensors in one or two spares, for anyone in future searching for tips on this.
I hope I have this right:
Need to do mods with Forscan to BCM [body control module] to record 5 or 6 wheels not 4, as mentioned in first post. Then, "train" the additional sensor/s.
Do TPMS dashboard reset.
TPMS dash readout should give reading for the wheels that are ROTATING only and show ERROR for the spare/s that are not rotating.
Might need to move vehicle before or after reset is performed.
If you can't put up with the error, adjust bcm back to 4 wheels.
With bcm reverted to 4 wheels/sensors, if a spare wheel is mounted to replace a damaged tyre, do TPMS dash RESET, the pressure of the mounted spare, not the replaced flat tyre, should be shown on dash read out once the mounted spare rotates for a short time.
Am assuming this because the spare has already been "trained".
If bcm is left at 5/6 wheels, I assume a TPMS reset would not be necessary and the now rotating spare will show tyre pressure not an error, and the damaged non rotating tyre will show the error.
Will give this a shot as soon as I get the 2nd set of tyres mounted with 5 x TPMS sensors.
