Hi all.ive got a new ranger with around 7000kms on it now.
2 or 3 times since new i have
1.started car and warmed up for aaprox 5 mins
2 drive up a inclined driveway forward in drive
3 roll down the street or very light accel.
On the way down hill it does a shift under lightn or no throttle.
This is where the fun starts.
At the bottom.of hill when i go to take off at the t intersection it seems to free rev like its in neutral but the shift indicator says d.
It seems to then engage quite hard, disengage and then engage hard again and take off.in the mean time ive rolled into the middle of the intersection with no drive ready to be cleaned up.
Has anyone else had this happen?
Ideas?

Have you taken it back to the dealer, warranty should cover any issues as it is only 12 or so months old.
I have read some where that there have been issues with the trans oil pump, but I think that is with the 10 speed.

Since there are 2 transmissions used in the Ranger you might want to update your profile or signature to let us all in on your secret as to which you have.

Update on this.
I now have a torque pro.
And the fault still happens once every thousand ks or so.
I have noticed that when rolling down the hill the car is shifting up to 5th gear,im rolling about 25kms hr.
At the bottom of the hill when i stop at the intersection the car is only going to 3rd.i pit it to sports mode and i can not get it to select any other gear just stays in third.
Go to park then back to drive and its still in third.
Takes off in third slipping its head off on the torque convertor.
Big thump and im off for another thousand ks.
Any thoughts
Ford has done a tcm update but it hasnt helped?

People are talking about 6 speed and 10 speed in this thread. Maybe start a new thread.Chewbacca450 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 6:10 pm Update on this.

Your 6 speed issue is possibly mechanical valve body and or torque convertor issues so no software update will fix that. Has the oil been dropped to see if there is any metal in it?

Valid points, but i dont know what to do regarding threads etc.infact i dont even know what a thread is.lol
Oil was dropped and filter changed when i first complained, but unsure of condition.
When i say it was stuck in third i mean.
I went to sports mode and tried a down shift while stationary and it indicated it was in third on the cluster. And would not accept a down shift so when i took off it stayed in third and slipped alot through the convertor.
Could a low battery do this? Maybe losing adaptive learn or something?
