Hi Can anyone inform me if they know if the navigation is supposed to work in the cluster, my 2018 Ford Ranger XLT with sync 3 with Navigation only shows the compass no matter what I tried. On the radio screen everything works as it’s supposed to. I’m wondering why would there be a navigation tab on the left cluster screen but it’s basically useless...

Only shows a compass when there is no planned route.
Plan a route then check cluster, will show street by street.

I guest, may be can show only country code=AU version, cause in Thailand can show only compass too.

Hi I tried but it only keeps showing the compass, when using anything els like Apple carplay or waze it showes “see touch screen” under the compass.
Wonder if this is a setting that kan be changed as all my other vehicles have this feature and I can’t think that ford will deactivate it why would they then pit the compass feature there in the fist place.

Hi I also think it may be something to do with the maps loaded on the system because here in South Africa we get our Rangers loaded with Tracks4Africa and some other standard maps and I have tried switching over from the two maps still no nav on the cluster.

Is the menu item in the left hand cluster saying Navigation or Compass?
I assume you have factory mapping on the Sync3 unit?

Also no Carplay or AA will not display a route.

It says Navigation, the maps on the sync 3 system are HERE maps( professional ) and Tracks4Africa at the moment it is on the standard setting which is HERE maps( professional )

I tried Carplay it then shows the compass and a message underneath it that says “see touch screen”

So the assumption is the here maps do not have the supported data to show on the navigation screen on the IPC. Someone else with these particular maps word have to confirm but that is my assumption.

For carplay that is normal as it is also unsupported.

Bothe SA built vehicle which had non nav Sync 3s fitted to most. It will be an 8GB unit so maps would not fit anyway. Only is replace the unit with a NAV unit.

Hi Stewart. Sorry for asking again. My Ranger has sync 3.4 installed and I do have Factory fitted nav but it still is not working. It was activated but I only get the compass icon. My vehicle was built in SA but for middle east.

Just because it has compass does not mean it is a NAV unit. If it was not NAV from factory then it was a 8GB unit and is to small for maps. Activating NAV does not mean the memory size increases. Have you tried installing maps?

Any Sync 2 or 3 can have a compass as all the vehicle have a GPS antenna.

Worst case post saved asbuilt for APIM and will have a look.

Thanks. I will send the file. I think I am misunderstood when selecting the navigation tab at the bottom of the screen I do have navigation where I can plan a route and select way points.

To answer the question above that was answered in a PM, the maps are classed as external maps for the country in question and do not support route repeating the the cluster.
