Test results from changing the power point timeout delay in the BCM non as built
I really need to thank Stewart for his help, loaded up my 2018 Ranger friday night and plugged in my engel fridge to the 12v socket in the tub, and to my surprise when i turned off the key the fridge cut out!!! In my previous model this socket had fulltime power.
After a few messages making the change to the power point time in Forscan from "1" to "28,800" (8hrs), after cycling the engine a spanner light appeared which I hit "ok" on the steering wheel. No further lights, checked forscan for errors with none found.
Fantastic i could go away and the fridge would run overnight as i was driving during the day.
Further evaulation found this change also affected the 12v socket and USB in the front dash and the 12v socket in the rear of console.
Taking the laptop with me just in case i changed this setting to 36,000 after night one in case i slept in
Fridge ran all night for 3 nights with no issues, the battery manager didnt power off the circuit and the car started fine each day.
Note: I also had to enable Silent mode to use the dash switch to turn off the lights in the sports bar as they remained on otherwise.
Great work guys with the changes we can make to this vehicle to make it actually better

Assume this is the power outlet setting that is normally 4500?
What is the maximum you can set it to?
you've had no issues with 36000?

I set mine to 86400 for fun once and it was alive for 24 hours.
I have no idea if there is a limit and what it is.

Yeah ok that would do me more than enough (looking at 14 hours). But I wonder what the actual largest number you can put in is and what would happen if you go over it.

Try it and see, if it exceeds the maximum allowable amount if there is one I am guessing it may not write.

It maxed out at ~65500ish (it put that number in when I put in 86400). When I tried to write the 65k value it failed to write.
I put in 50400 which is 14 hours and it worked fine.

Some update must have changed something, unless I did 14 hours and not 24, that's possible.

2 Byte value so it can only be a theoretical maximum of 65535 seconds but BCM will only accept 64800
So 18 hours to the second is the maximum.
So 18 hours to the second is the maximum.

Perhaps a newbie question - I've changed the powerpoint timeout value and written successfully to my PX3, but it seems to still turn off when the car is locked. Is that the expected behavior?
I do have a dual battery setup with DC /DC and I know the tub outlet is now wired to the 2nd battery, but thought the internal outlets would still stay alive after this change?
Have I missed anything? Or is there any guidance one of the more experienced users could give me?
Thanks in advance

Are you saying the tub 12v outlet is charging the battery?

Hmm, I wonder if it could be difference between the PX2 and PX3. I triple checked and the values I write are accepted, the ports just dont/wont stay alive when the car is locked. Everything else Ive edited such as double horn and auto-lock seems to have worked though...
The tub outlet was re-wired to run directly from the 2nd battery and is switched on/off via a lightforce switch in the cabin, potentially when that equipment went in something was changed... I'll have to take a look

Went to 64800 first and it wrote successfully, still not live. Tried 28,800, 10,000, 5000 even 20....nothing seems to make it stay alive.
I've checked the wiring behind the ports at the front and nothing has been changed when the switch fascia went in, just plug and play so im leaning towards it not being possible on the PX3?
Are there any members with a PX3 who can confirm it working?

Can anyone here confirm if the car will turn off the power outlet before battery voltage gets too low to start the engine?

No it won't, best to set the low voltage switch on your Engel if it has one.
Get a manual here for your model
https://www.engelcoolers.com/fridge-manuals
I ended up putting an Anderson plug in the back connected to a 120amp Thumper pack.
I fitted a VSR switch to the battery pack so initially the Waeco drew power from the Thumper Pack and the main battery.
When it dropped to 12.2volts (I think) the VSR isolated the main battery.
Mind you, it was quite a few hours running before that happened.

I'm also having issues with the power outlet timeout change not working.
When I turn off the ignition, the outlets all turn off.
I initially set Power Point Timeout to 28800 and it didnt work, soi I just tried 20 and that doesnt work either.

I can only assume it is hard coded in a certain version of firmware and up.

Hi Stewart
My 2016 PX2 XLT had the default run time of around 60min previously. I just updated the value to 28800 and now it turns off as soon as I take the key out of the ignition. I was going to have my fridge running off the tray 12v over the holiday break so any urgent assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Kevin

Turns out it was my battery voltage and just purely coincidental that it occurred immediately after altering the timeout value.

Hi All,
I've just tried the timeout function on my 2017 Ranger with no success.
Power is cut to power points as soon as ignition key is turned to off position.
Quite disappointing. Was hoping to run a small fridge.
Didn't want to put in custom wiring.
Can I assume this will affect the tub outlet as well?
I was considering getting the loom and retro fitting but won't waste my time if it also turns off with the ignition.

Is there anyone in Melbourne or Geelong that could make this mod for me?
Happy to pay
It’s really the only mod I want to make to my car and figure there is no point buying an adapter myself just for the one mod.

I recall trying this when I got my Ranger in 2017 and was also unable to adjust the time delay for 12v output to turn off.
