Hi All

For those of you who monitor fuel rail temperature, are you able to advise the following.

- does your fuel temp have any correlation to outside air temp?
- what fuel rail temp numbers do you normally see when driving on a normal day?
- does this number increase when towing?
- what is the highest number you have seen?

Reason for my questioning is I have an issue with my fuel temp getting to hot on hot days while towing (over 35degC air temp)

After a period of driving, it gets over 80degC causing the car to go in reduced power mode (drops turbo boost) with no dash faults.

I have checked everything I can think of,
Clear fuel lines,
new filter
Lines not kinked
Fuel lines plugged in the correct way

2017 Everest with 68,000kms serviced regularly at Ford.
Car runs perfect not towing and under 35degC towing.

Trying to work out what the cause may be (faulty sensor, fuel pump) or if the car just can’t handle hot days towing close to GCM.

Cheers

i had a long ranger fuel tank on my ranger and the aftermarket return hose swelled up preventing fuel from returning to tank, i have also heard of one of the three fuel pump plunger valves staying open heating up the fuel.

Thanks Evansr2

I just had all the line checked on my brown davis tank and they appear to be free of kinks, and not squashed.

Does anyone know how Ford check if the fuel pump is faulty and heating up the fuel?

Wow.... interesting. I actually blew through mine with air to make sure they were clear.
How old was your car and how many kms?

it was a 2011 px1 ranger with about 110k and the tank had been in there for about 6 years, the discharge hose was perfect just the return, also i think there is a valve in the fuel filter housing that can allow return fuel to recirculate, it keeps the filter housing warm to prevent waxing
