Fitted a redarc tow pro elite (2015 PX2) a few months ago, first time out towing the camper, it felt as if it wasn't working great. Stopped and tried to hold the button down on the dial and it takes a little while for it to engage. Got home and tried it on a hill. Applied brakes while in neutral, push dial in and let go of brakes took a good 3-4 seconds for the trailer to stop. Is this the case for all of them or could I have a issue?

I used the wiring kit for the Rangers. Tigger wire comes from trailer plus. Would it make much of a difference if I wired the trigger wire to the brake pedal?

My tow pro is wired from the brake pedal switch.

If they are drums then in general electric brakes will not come on instantly as the magnet needs to grip the drum then the lever moves.

If the shoes, magnets, drums etc are worn or not adjusted correctly then naturally they will not work as well as they should.

yeah understand it wouldn't be instant, but 3-4seconds seems like a lot, especially when you need to apply brakes quickly. They are drums and it's a brand new trailer. I might try rewiring the trigger wire and see if that changes anything.

If it's all new then I would check the adjustment.

I run the adjustment at 8 clicks off. On manual setting 4 it will lock up pretty much instantly when cold but faid a bit as soon as they get any heat in them.

The unit I have was on my ranger connected to the pedal switch and is now on a landcruiser connected to trailer plug
