Before my recent trip away I contacted my dealer to enquire if my Ranger was on the recall list, I didn't want brake problems while towing a van.

I was told without a doubt my car is not in the recall list.

I didn't speak to the usual person but I thought anyone should be able to read VIN numbers.

Got a call today to inform me my car is on the recall list and asked which day would suit me to get it done.

I asked if the recall list had changed and more cars added.

No, the same as it was 2 weeks ago.

More Ford incompetence.

I had the same with my other car, a Mazda 6, when the Taka airbag recall went out. I called them to ask if it was on the list, gave them my vin and within a second the lady said it wasnt on the list.

Three days later I get a letter from mazda Australia asking me to contact my dealer as it was affected. The letter from Mazda must have been printed before I called the local dealer yet they didn't know.

I checked my vin last week in case mine was on the recall list for brake lines it said no recalls.

Rang Ford to book my 15k service today she said my Ute is up for recall for front diff.
Looked up my vin again today after speaking to Ford and it says no recalls four my vin.
So don't trust vin checker on the Ford web site I'd ring Ford to check
