Hi, My son just bought his first car, a 2013 ranger 3.2 4x4 Auto. nice car, however we notice that although no codes are flagging the rpm will ever so slightly surge when under low loads especially between approx 60-80kms. when at 100 it will cruise nicely.
We were about to pull out the MAF sensor and give it a clean, as this is mentioned on some forum sites. Second step would be to blank the EGR.
Would really appreciate thoughts.

Car bought at auction, so no warranty
Car did have flat battery when we picked it up, had to be jumped started. codes were all on due to this - Chk engine, Chk Transmission, however once battery was charged, codes all cleared and not come back on.

Blanking egr requires EGR delete via tunning computer as well as block off plate call Horse Power Factory they are close to you. Also have mates that have jump started flat batterys and have had to replace computer. Been told if ever jump leave both vechiles connected for a few minutes & always earth to body.

Is this true for the PX1? Understand issues for the PX2… What if you don’t and just blank it in a PX1?
Cheers,

Does it idle in park ok?

Could be a number of things including a hole in the intercooler, or intercooler hose, the suction control valve, or its in need of a trans service.

The top intercooler hose is easy to replace and a genuine one should be under $100 from ford. The suction control valve on these are known to cause fluctuations particularly at low rpms/loads eg at idle or moving very slowly in first or reverse up a slight incline. Forscan will show you if the target fuel rail pressure or at the actual pressure... if its over by about 1000psi then it needs replacing. Its always a good idea to change the trans fluid - typically a bandaid if it has problems but a good preventative measure if it doesnt. When i bought mine it was 3 litres low on trans fluid... still went ok though.

PX1 generally has no issue with blanking.
