What tyres did you have before, in comparison what is the noise difference on the road and what PSI are you running?
Have you changed tyre size and do you notice any power loss or the dreaded 2nd to 3rd gap?
Previously I had 265/65R18 E rated KO2s (31.5) . These are quieter. I attribute much of that just to being new though. I've never driven on the OE tyres.
I picked C rated 17" rim tyres for more comfort over my previous E rated 18" tyres (1 less ply). Real happy that I did, even though it meant importing them myself.
I've been running 35 psi based on the service manual entry for same size tyre used on the Ranger Raptor.
There is a slight feeling of power loss, but the taller gearing and lower revs feel OK. That said I do use Sport and Manual mode more. 2 to 3 isn't significantly worse than before. Yes, I'm thinking to fit an exhaust and maybe intercooler...

I'm really thinking of changing, problem is they have 70,000km left on them.
If I run my Mickey Thompson P3 ATZ at 35 to 38 they are noisy, I can feel every part of the tread when slowing down and I take the edges off. I have pushed them up to 44 now at at the sake of comfort they are wearing flatter and are quieter, I also cannot feel the tread anymore.
That's how I felt about my old KO2s. Sold them with 50% tread left.
I ran the old tyres at 38, as lower felt too lumpy while higher felt smoother but I wasn't sure I could trust the grip. BFG AU did recommend higher pressure though. I reckon they'd suit a heavier rig better.

Richard, where did you find the information regarding the amount of plies etc. Their website does not seem to list specifications like they used too. At one point they had all this info on there.
Is this the identical tyre that is used on the Raptor?
It's printed on the tyres, both sidewall and tread plies. See pics.
I don't think its the same tyre - the speed rating is too low. They're LT285/70R17/C 116/113Q so 160 kph, while I think the Raptor will get a new S rated version (based on talk of a tyre specially designed for Raptor, and 170 kph desert runs). I've attached a pic that looks to me like C load rating with S speed rated.
I got them from Summit Racing in the US. Worked out about 500-odd / tyre, so same as local price except they won't sell these locally.

We had a lot of rain this morning. The new tyres felt a lot grippier than the old ones. Didn't even feel close to losing traction, whereas previously I'd have to be quite careful.

I have standard tyres still, but in the wet they are super slippery. Is this because of the tyres or is it because utes are light in the backend? Some work colleagues say they just select 4wd in the rain for added traction but they all have standard tyres also. If I get better tyres the tendency for the back end to want to break traction be reduced much?
Thanks Stewart. Yep, suspicions confirmed! S speed rated with C load rating.
@Thinky Sorry for the late reply! It's a combination of things, but short version is, yes, better tyres will help. 285 vs 265 width will get a bit more contact patch on the road, and a decent silica compound tyre will grip better in the wet. Larger diameter reduces the torque at the ground so it's less likely to break traction. Softer springs can help too.
I used to light it up unintentionally all the time (particularly int the wet) with the 265/65R18s but it's not a problem now with the bigger softer tyres. I'm not a fan of 4wd on wet roads.

Have you noticed a loss or torque/performance since fitting the larger tyres? I'd love to fit some but as my vehicle is mainly a road car I really don't want to make it even slower than it already is.
