Yikes - going to leave that right alone then. It would be nice to have but not worth bricking my infotainment over, particularly since I dont see anyone with a Ranger in the comments.

Not saying it cannot be done, not saying everyone will have an issue, more so I just don't have enough time in a day to help every single person that attempts it and has issues. Basically your on your own. I still don't believe all files on that site are correct though.

Have done enough over the last few years that I don't have an issue but I make sure it is done correctly and will continue to function correctly. Generally if I have to try and resolve an issue or issues it ends up being 10 people continually which equals another X amount of hours a day. So if it is posted here in some shape or form it affects my inbox.

I was running Sync 3.0. I had a chat to Stewart and decided to remove my Sync 3 system, post it to Stewart and he would upgrade and post it back to me. I managed to re-install last week. I'm now running the latest Sync 3.4 with up-to-date maps.

The longest part was express post - 2 days each way!

If not keen to tackle the upgrade yourself, have a chat to Stewart. I'm sure he'd be happy to do it for you. There was a fee involved, which is to be expected as Stewart's time is valuable. I'm very happy with the result. Thanks again Stewart.

Just to clarify.... Sync3 upgarde to Sync3.4 may have issues and not worth the hassle?

Its really up to you. There is enough info on the WWW overseas if someone wants to try it but I won't support it or I'm supporting 100s of people which I do not have time for.

Depending on knowledge, you may pull it off or you might well brick it. If you try it just make sure you have all the requires files as once you start the process you cannot go back.

I'm running sync 3.0 [ 19205 build ] with F8 maps, is it worth the upgrade to 3.4, whats new in the 3.4 thats not in the 3.0 version, i have ALL the relevant information to do the upgrade from 3.0 to 3.4, but is it worth the upgrade or not...thanks...

If looking nicer it the only benefit one would have to wonder if it's worth the risk.
It will not update the conventional way with the latest maps etc so I guess you will be relying on other means.

Main reason would be new interface if desirable and support for Google Maps directions in cluster when using Android Auto.

Ford Australia on their web site have provided an new SYNC update

got notified of an update today to SYNC3 v3.0.23

Down loaded to a usb stick, JR3T-14381-AU-PKS, can't for the life of me install it, several means of installing it according to Ford
Previous download JR3T-14381-AS-PKS installed in March no problems
Can some one confirm the sequence of installation
The software is definitely on the stick

Check file is not corrupt and if ok then have a read of the attached.

Thanks Stewart, have had a couple of attempts to download the sync update, one comes up with a prefix AS and another AU in the update, are you aware what the AS stands for? Gather should not install any thing in Aussie with out the AU prefix in it!

It is basically thre build number. You will see the calibrations on modules follow the same rules.

I've downloaded the file ( its a 413MB zip), instructions say to uncompress onto a 8GB USB drive before plugging into car which I don't have. I'm guessing its going to dump maps onto the USB before flashing and copying back.

It only updates the sync3 software, not the maps, they can only be done by a dealer.

updated my 2018 Ranger from sync 3.0 to 3.4 today using the Cyanlabs tool, updates maps from 2016 to 2019

Yep I did mine in early January aswell. Sync 3.0 to 3.4 with ANZ 1.19 maps.

Mine is running Sync 3.3. Apparently there is Sync 3.4 out. My Ranger won't update over the air. I did update it to 3.3 over the air when I first got it back in Sept 20.

Might have to try the thumbdrive method, although the idea of doing this does scare me a little.

Thing is, sounds like there's nothing for me in 3.4 to make the risk worthwhile.

And for those who've "bricked" their systems, how hard has it been to recover them?

I put it off for a long time but finally did it.
All went well and there quite a few new features I like, actually got some decent volume now.
Stewart has recovered "bricked" units so you will need to wait for him to answer.
