Now that I can play a bit with the smart charge I have noticed one strange thing.

Set to 16v, 100% dual battery mode the battery does maintain 100%, very easily and quickly.

Set to 15.2v it sits at 96%, at idle it is +3 to +4 amps.

Set to 14.4v it sits around 90% but at idle it shows -9 to -12 amps.

Bring the revs up to 1,000+ and it shows +10 to +25 amps.

Back up to 15.2v and idle is 3 to 4 again and up to 1,000 revs shows +8 to +10

This new battery certainly charges quickly and holds voltage.

Plus 1,050 CCA certainly kick it over easily.

With the poor quality stock battery and a somewhat erratic charging system I can see why so many have battery issues.

I will put mine back up to 16v when I go away and need the van battery charged.
