Righto I’ve just fitted up a Redarc coolant alarm and I’d thought I’d post up a few pics to help out others.
After overthinking this I decided to drill a hole in the coolant tank close to the cap as the plastic tank has a lot of support because it’s basically in the corner of 2 vertical walls and the vertical section of the cap area. Image

I used a 100mm x 6mm stainless bolt and ground a groove around the top for the terminal to clip on

The wire is to install it and the bolt head at the bottom is so you can get a spanner on it to tighten the nylock nut up.

I mounted the unit near the column tilt, you can also see my Redarc tow pro mounted on under my column.

Here is the kicker it doesn’t work!
Well it’s wired correctly and tests fine but when the probe is in the coolant it doesn’t sense it, if I dangle a wire connected to and earth in the coolant it will sense it fine.
Could my coolant be very poor at conducting an electrical current all the way to the block?
I have no idea of the brand but definitely not Ford possibly Nulon looking at it at Supercheap

It is listed in the installation instructions. The coolant in the plastic tank is to far from metal to earth. It suggests you can fit an earth probe in the tank.
2016 XLT 4x4 Space cab, Aluminium Tray, Ford Steel Bull bar. Rear bumper bar fitted for parking sensors.

I actually messaged a member from here that has also done this and didn’t need the earth probe so it must be my coolant anyway I’ve fitted the earth probe and it works perfectly.
I’d recommend these Redarc low coolant alarms to everyone.
