Not much info here on Everest/Ranger ECU tuning experiences. Is it not common or people just do not post Dyno's and reviews?
I am looking at ECU West and HP-F. Any experiences with them anyone?
Also, did anyone tested DPF delete and AdBlue cat delete vs power delivery, if s there a benefit?

You can be the first mate. Let us know the outcome :)

PCM tuning cannot be completed without first removing and unlocking the PCM and I don't want 1 million questions when someone bricks their PCM so I'm steering clear of it.

You will be more likely to find tunes done to Rangers than Everest's in other parts of the net so have a search around the www.

Hi Stewart,

Firstly thanks for all the info on this site and the work you have put in.

I have had my 2016 xlt dyno tuned today at Bayside Performance Services in Cleveland, James there has a tool that works through the OBD11 port so no need to take out the PCM anymore in fact i dont think he even has to open the bonnet. The below print out is just the tune everything else on mine is standard at the moment.

If anyone is in Brisbane he has offered a special for forum members if booked as a group. The normal cost for this is $995.

My PX XLT has a chiptune and a I got 240cv/68kgfm of torque.
If I were to replace my clutch for a reinforced one, my guy says I'd surpass 260cv/75kgfm

HPF is the go in Melbourne Vic, I deleted DPF and used an Xforce 2015 exhaust and you will need a 2011/15 top exhaust mount, got 660nm at 2250 rpm

I would really like to get rid of my DPF and get a better exhaust, even a Unichip would be great.

Seen some great figures from those chips.

But having just bought my car I am hesitant to do any thing that could interfere with a warranted claim.

Ford will try to blame the owner to save money.

With most new cars now coming with a 5 year warranty it is worth protecting.

Hi guys, I'm very confused regarding tuning with the px2 stock turbo and the egr.
Willall, morpowa and HBD can all flash tune my px2, they all say to turn off the egr with the tune and all say the can do a safe tune with the standard turbo???

I understand not to use an egr blanking plate, but is it ok to turn it off via a tune? If so will the egr still operate to relieve boost pressure?

Honestly, only a good tuner could answer that. Easy way is will they warrant a blown engine from their tune in case of disabling it? Are they just writing an off the shelf tune or do they have a Ranger sitting around they have been working on and developing?

Cheers for the reply, has anyone actually seen a gunked up px2 intake on a high mileage car?

Ended up with BPT Motorsport flash for ECU and TCU. Transformed the car great deal. Engine is very responsive, fuel consumption down 15% -20% across the range. Gearbox shift like normal passenger car. Three months now, bug free.
Had some custom metal fabrication done for under car protection, one off job via Chinese supplier: http://www.pa-international.com/metal/fabrication/
Pics later.

A year ago when I first took delivery of my Wildtrak one of the first things I did was to drive down from my NSW Blue Mountain eerie to Victoria and South Dandenong in Melbourne to have the HPF do a dyno tune and customised ECU flash tune done on the engine. I didn't want more power but I did want better economy (if possible) low exhaust emissions and more low down power, I ended up with 147 kw, 610 Nm of torque at 1270 RMP and better than 12 l/100 K economy, not bad for a Ranger that weighs in at 3260 kg and has the aerodynamics of several house bricks stacked on each other. The down side is of course I can never have a Ford dealer download and ECU "updates" as it will wipe my custom tune and put the engine into limp mode (I have had this experience) fortunately the HPF have a Blacktown agent and they were able to email my particular tune to them to re-install it.

I wonder if your tune could be loaded onto an nGuage and you could always install it yourself.

Tunes can be installed on the nGuage via a pc & micro sd card

The trans tunes on the nGuage make the changes better

It has stock tunes which can be installed before you go to a dealer then load your own tune again,.

I believe they can - BPT have a post basically stating they can do this on the FB page. The only issue I could possibly see is they may physically need the vehicle?

Maybe HPF could send him the tune he paid for via email.

Do all Ranger tunes have the same extension?

All speculation on my part.

Hey Ross, Do you know if you can use the nGuage and Ultraguage at the same time to monitor more pids?

No, I don't know for sure if there won't be any conflicts.

Barry from BPT Motorsports told me to make sure I remove my OBDlink dongle before I connect the nGuage to upload maps, monitoring wasn't mentioned.

If you are not requesting the same information then there should not be any issue, but I just use multi-page on an Ultragauge or use 2 Ultragauges and can not fill them. Too much data generally makes one overthink.

Until the nGauge supports multi paging I will not use it to monitor PIDs.

Also keep in mind you cannot use custom PIDs on an nGauge unless they are added to the firmware.

I gave Barry the alternator output PID the other day so it should be in the next firmware release.

As with any programming, always make sure there are no other devices plugged in.

I wouldnt know, I do know that they had to physically remove the engine ECU ( from underneith the fuse box adjacent to the battery ) and "plug" it into a lap top that had my "tune" emailed onto it, there were several micro "crocodile clips" and pins to connect various points on the PCB. The ECU was then replaced and the engine checked and a few adjustments made to it via a cable to the EDU plug while the Wildtrak was on their dyno. so, my guess is, no it cannot be loaded onto a nGuage and stored for a future date.

An individual tune is no doubt the best tune one can have.

I would consider a Unichip tune the best if there are no further PCB updates.

Alternatively I could unplug the Unichip and still drive.

I would hate issues way out bush with your sort of tune, leave you stranded very easily.

Removing the PCM again was due to the fact it was it locked from Ford flashing their calibration files again. It was opened on the bench to unlock.

No the existing tune could not be added in the way you are thinking Ross, although in theory it could be done in house, it would not be worth the time and effort.

I'm not too sure just what could go wrong "leaving me stranded" as you put it. At the very worst instance if I had an issue with the ECU out in the desert the engine would simply go into limp mode - annoying but not terminal.
As I mentioned elsewhere when the Wildtrak was being prepared, I had all the ECU's removed and tested by an electronics engineer and on close inspection he found some 50 odd possible "cold joints" on the various PCB's that he then recitified. The ECU's would have passed all plug in computerised tests even with these cold joints but after several thousand vibrations due to corrugated outback roads who knows, - this was a real issue with the LR TD5 - cold joints in the ECU due to robotic soldering and poor inspection systems. I was determined not to experience that with my Wildtrak.

Leaving you stranded as in limp mode in heavy sand, no power and trying to tow a van or climb hills.

It's just me, I want to be in control in the bush.

I have learnt the hard way that no matter what you do and test electronics fail.

Where do you go outback to fix it?

Melbourne & Sydney are a long way off.

Like i said it's just a personal thing and whatever people do is fine, its just not something that I would do going bush, OK in the city though.
