long time since my last post. This is probably one for Stewart, I recently obtained a 2020 Wildtrak roller shutter and control module to fit to my 2017 Wildtrak. I installed and wired the Module and roller shutter up as per Ford schematics including connection to MS canbus but Forescan does not see the module, so was wondering what I need to do to set it up on the MS canbus and the programming in the BCM etc. to control the roller shutter
any assistance and advise would be greatly appreciated

There are no DE blocks in the MRCMA module.
Have you checked the initial connection page of Forscan and selected the modules tab to check if it is there?
Have you started a fresh profile? Do not use the existing one.

have checked modules and created a new profile but it doesn't show up. have done some additional checks on the module and it seems to be U/S so will be using alternative control method. thanks for your reply

Until you can get the module to show on the bus then there is no point making any BCM changes.
Not sure what U/S is.
Main reason for BCM control is to add the correct remotes so the roller shutter can be opened and closed.
If the unit works correctly without being on the bus then it is just a loss of the correct remotes and it will most likely open and close at any road speed where usually it is limited.
Feel free to post the module to me if you want it tested on the bench but otherwise I have nothing I can add.

Hi there, did you get the shutter working using the roller shutter control module, but without being connected to the MS canbus?easyflow wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 9:21 pm long time since my last post. I have the module connected but cannot get it to show up on the mscan. It only partly works like this. You have to hold the button to fully open or close. If you release and repush button again it reverses direction but again you have to hold button until fully open or closed. I have run out of ideas on how to get it to function correctly

I'm just waiting for my roller shutter control module to arrive and then I'll have a go at wiring it. If I had to guess I would say that there is a problem with your MS-canbus connection. Where did you tap into the canbus? It's not something simple like doing the initialisation is it? I've attached the writeup for that if it helpseasyflow wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 5:13 pm I have the module connected but cannot get it to show up on the mscan. It only partly works like this. There is no initialisation for anything on the bus, modules are on the bus and wired correctly or they are not.

Yeah I was talking about the initialisation of the roller shutter, which you have to do every time it loses power. It's more of a reset I guess. Carrying out the initialisation procedure activates both the obstacle detection and the one-touch open and
one-touch close features, which may explain why he doesn't have these features.

I have tried to initialise as per IDS instructions but no change to operation. I connected to ms can near tow module as per ford wiring schematics but it does not show up in Forscan or IDS. Even bought new roller shutter module but still no change. Maybe I need to run seperate ms can connection back to GWM?

Bummer! It sounds like you're on to it, but just to be clear, did you connect the ms-can wiring to the wires going to the trailer control module or wires running past the module? As my understanding is that the trailer control module is on the HS-can, but maybe someone here can confirm that. I'm not trying to teach you how to suck eggs, but I'm guessing that you've checked all your connections and that they run to the right terminals? You've used a twisted pair for the ms-can wires, and a twin shielded cable for the motor wiring (with the shield connected to the sig-gnd connection)? Did you re-route the wire from the truck bed lamp switch to go to the open/close terminal on the roller shutter module (I wasn't going to connect this on my one, but I'm now wondering if this needs to show a high signal at the terminal when not being pressed)? Sorry if I'm waffling, I'm just throwing ideas out there.easyflow wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 8:31 pm I have tried to initialise as per IDS instructions but no change to operation. Can I ask where you located the roller shutter module and did you make up your own wiring loom to run to the shutter? Where did you get the plugs from to connect to both?
Cheers

If you want to buy a connector for the shutter module search for this item on ebay it's a fraction of the cost of genuine connector and is identical Harley 20X BLACK FEMALE OEM Molex MX150 connector terminals. The bed lamp switch is normally open and pulls to earth when pressed. You will need to re route the wire from pin 6 on the bed lamp switch to the roller shutter control module and connect the wire for the bed lamps that used to go to pin6 to connector c2280f pin 26 on the bcm. the bed switch also pulls to earth. when I bought my roller shutter it had some of the wiring harness with it, I just extended this wiring harness and yes twisted pair to ms can and shielded wiring to shutter motor

I've found a funny discrepancy in the wiring diagram that I have for the roller shutter (I can't for the life of me remember where I got it from). It's slightly different from the one that Stewart has posted. In my version, pin 8 goes directly to ground and pin 7 goes to the rear open/close button. However, in the version that Stewart has posted pins 7 & 8 are transposed i.e. pin 7 goes directly to ground and pin 8 goes to the rear open/close button. You would have to think that one of the diagrams is wrong, but it could explain your problems if pins 7 & 8 are round the wrong way (the unit would only get power when you hold the open/close button in).
I've uploaded my copy for you to have a look
Stewart: do you have any idea how current your version is?

One more thing to the above - the plug pin out wiring diagram that Stewart provided also matches the wiring diagram for the roller shutter module that he provided, so I'm inclined to think that these ones are correct.

Both pin outs are from the ford manual on ford pts site one is from 2019 ranger schematics the other is from the 2020-2022 ranger schematics so your guess is as good as mine as to the correct one. I searched schematics with different vin’s and came up with this discrepancy so I suppose it will be trial and error to find out the correct one

pretty sure I wired as per ranger 2020-2022 schematics as the module I bought is new. This topic has got me motivated again to try and solve my issues so will be re tracing my wiring to confirm all is correct. A further point on this is although the module does not show up on the ms can there must be some connectivity as the buttons only work with the vehicle unlocked.

Hi All. This is exactly the post I have been looking for! I picked up an electric roller shutter and sailplane off an MY22 Wildtrak over the weekend for my MY19 Wildtrak. The chap I brought it off swore black and blue that my model had all of the required modules and harnesses for a straight plug and play...He seemed fairly genuine so took his word for it. After installing the hardware I spent most of the afternoon hunting for the harness/connectors etc. only to realise that my vehicle is not actually equipped with them. I have the short wiring harness which connects to the rear tray switch and the main harness which connects the roller motor, stop/tray lights and 12v accessory outlet. I am very keen to get this working like a factory unit so have a few questions about the info in this thread.
1. Where do I source the roller control module (and ahrnesses) from. I have searched ebay but had no luck, guess I will try the wreckers next.
2. I assume I will need the "downstream" harness from the module through to the tray. Is this a separate harness or is it part of the pain harness running down that side of the vehicle?
3. Does the harness mentioned in 2 above include the plug for the rear tray switch?
4. How do I get comms and power to the module under the seat?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Hey there, I made up a temporary harness to see if I could get it to work properly before I plunged head deep into it, and guess what... SUCCESS!!easyflow wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 12:05 pm pretty sure I wired as per ranger 2020-2022 schematics as the module I bought is new. This is what I can tell you about things:
(1) No programming necessary in the BCM whatsoever
(2) The 12v feed to the roller shutter control module has to be live at all times, otherwise you need to reinitialise the module every time you fire it up.
(3) Won't work without a feed to the ms-can bus. I tapped mine off the trailer module next to where the roller shutter control module is located under the passenger front seat.
(4) I had the same problems that you did when I first tried to reinitialise it. What I discovered is that you hold the shutter button in until it opens or closes, and keep holding it in for at least 6-seconds after it stops moving before you let it go. Then within 10-seconds hold the button again until it closes or opens, and keep holding it in for at least 6-seconds after it stops moving before you let it go. After that it should be fine.
The only small issue I have now is how I'm going to run the harness (when I finish making it) from under the passenger seat through the back of the cab and into the bed - how did you do yours?
Cheers
Stu

congrats. still can't get mine to work will not initialize and cannot see it on the mscan. Have checked and rechecked wiring but unable to find the reason! I passed the harness through the rubber grommet behind the rear seat passenger side but I drilled a hole in the tub before I installed the roller shutter. there is another grommet under the carpet near the passenger seat that is used by redarc towpro unit that may be of use and run the harness along the chassis rail, that's how the redarc harness is run.
