I wasnt really sure which section to post this in, so i went for what i thought was the best fit....
Its been 4 months since I had the transmision gears recall done on my PX3 during which the engine oil was changed and PCM/TCM updates done.
I havent done my usual amount of driving in the last few months as expected managing only about 2000km, but out of the blue today I turn on the car and get a spanner icon, so out comes forscan and I get this code - Code: P253F - Engine Oil Deteriorated.
There are a whole heap of other metrics there too like air temp, oil pressure etc - I clear the DTC but it keeps coming back so I am wondering if perhaps this is a new "feature" that comes with the updated PCM to remind people to change the oil?
Anyone else seen this before or could tell me how to clear it?

Try
1. Turn on ignition but do not start the vehicle.
2. Depress the brake pedal and accelerator to the floor.
3. Keep depressed for approx 30 seconds.
4. Cluster displays reset Service Oil Service.
5. Turn ignition off.
6. Turn ignition on.
Or take it for a good hard drive and see if a good DPF burn clears it.

Mate I had a similar issue and it’s related to a need for the Ford tech to reset post service/recall. Mine came up and had to take back to Ford to remedy. Seen a lot of other owners having the same issue (via FB pages). Not sure if it was so widespread as Ford didn’t educate techs properly and/or a TSB will remedy it.
