It's about time I introduced myself.

Okay, age 70 years young (three score and ten sounds better) up to now I've been driving a 1998 Land Rover Discovery 300Tdi and we've done a tad over 500,000 kilometers in her, not always without problems but it always got us there and home, considering the roads and tracks we've driven over thats not a bad result.
Following a serious Motor Vehicle Accident in February 2015 I emerged with a fused lower spine so a more forgiving long wheel base suspension was called for, along with better accommodations (as in us previously sleeping out in the open under the awning on a self inflating mattress) and an automatic so that Julie could share in the driving duties, the LR manual being too much for her recent hip replacement.

The benefit of having had the Disco for the past eight years is I knew exactly what the Ranger had to have and be fitted with from day one. It doesn't need to be able to go fast, it does need to be 99% reliable and as economic as possible, even with the 140 litre ARB Frontier fuel tank will take at least 180-190 litres for the Ranger to cross over the Madigan line in the Simpson Desert for example. The Disco with its agricultural but very frugal turbo engine did it on 150 litres at a tad over 3.5 tonnes with tyre pressures down to 14 psi. We averaged 13 L/100 k -- I'm not expecting the Ranger to give better than 15-18 l/100 k.

I take delivery of it in February 2018, I'll take some photos then and post them for you to have a look at whats been done to it, meanwhile I've got to sit down and learn all about FORSCAN and how to read it and manage all the sensors.
