Hi all, just wondering if anyone has fitted or played around with the ambient lighting config and might be able to guide on setting it up correctly. Have test fitted ambient lamps (handles so far). Played around with the non-asbuilt settings for both the APIM and BCM but the best I could manage is to get the handle lamps to light as entry/exit from the BCM (lights come on with the key to the off position only, turn off when the key is turned to acc and on). They do not seem to function with the headlights on or off - with the car in night mode by coving the dash light sensor. Same behaviour with it actually dark.

Vehicle is a 2017 XLT with tech pack (guessing this is why the vehicle ends up with the 3 pin LIN plugs dotted around the vehicle? Not sure if all PX2 XLTs have this wiring in the looms.

Cheers.

Also curious as well, I would like to add rear ambient lighting to footwell and door handels. Not sure is plugs are already present.

Not sure what the US models have wiring wise but the Australian domestic market models ( only some though) appear to have 3 pin LIN wiring in place which I have located connectors for behind the glove box, under the steering wheel and two sets in each of the front door, aswell as in the media bin (storage area under the stereo/climate controls).

The general consensus (actually got the info from a US based Ranger forum) is that you can effectively tap into the existing wiring and connect additional lamps and maintain the colour customisable ambient lighting (which the US Lariat model comes with from what I can gather?). Might also be worth looking into other model Fords such as the Focus, Fiesta, Mondeo etc that had LIN lighting (some had incandescent globes on older models, some had mono-colour LEDs I think) for the lamps.
