Require 2 original keys.

Lay your 2 original remote head keys and new key on the passenger seat.

Sit in drivers seat and door CLOSED.

1. Insert first original key, turn to on, wait 5 seconds then turn off and remove key.
2. Insert second original key, turn to on, wait 5 seconds then turn off and remove key.
3. Insert third new key, turn on, wait approx 5 seconds, indicator will flash twice and door locks cycle.

Done complete new key added. Maximum of 4 can be added with other changes with IDS.

This is based on "safe" seconds as it will be difficult for you to have it fail.

If you have one or no original keys then it is Ford or an appropriate locksmith. Still tossing up if I will buy the software or not but it tested well the other day so it's still probably a want rather than a need. Worst case Ai have easy access.

This is all under the assumption that you will probably buy the head on eBay or a dealer then locksmith to cut key blade (sorry sold gear so cannot cut) then program you remote without the cost of Ford or a Locksmith.

Hi Stewart, do you happen to know if this would work on an Everest?

I've just bought an '18 Everest Ambiente, but didn't realise until I took delivery it only comes with 1 flip remote key, and 1 non-remote key.

Looking for the cheapest way to get another remote key programmed - it looks like Forscan doesn't have PATS for the Everest (although I'm not sure if PATS can do Everest anyway, or if it's a newer system in the Ford IDS to do Everest and PX2s)...

Cheers,
Kev

It will work.

You won't do the current version of PATs with Forscan or Ford IDS with security access. I do have other ways but it is not available to the general public.

Then again it may not. Just test and see if that second key also starts the vehicle. If yes then follow the same procedure.

I don't post fake news, of course it works.

Do this multiple times a month on many vehicles. As per the first line you will need 2 original remotes/keys. If you only have one then you will need a Ford dealer or an Auto Locksmith. Our transponder programming tools negate the need for Ford as long as PCM and BCM has not been changed.

If it fails with 2 originals then try again as it will always be a user fault.

Good luck.

Still havent got my key but i called the local locksmith this morning while i was stuck in traffic. He said he will cut the key and if i cannot program it, he thinks he can but it may use a token on his machine and that will cost me extra. I dont know how much yet.

Another side note is there are used keys for my exact model on ebay for as low as $20. Does anyone know if these can be be reprogrammed? Or are they one use?

It is $26 on Ebay for a used key. Anyone know if it can be reused with a new blade? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/333522123808

Does not look like a PX2 remote unless an XLS was different. Possibly PX1 that will not work.

If you get a second hand PX2 remote then yes it can be reused. Same procedure as above.

Just got my key cut this morning $11 and programmed it myself using the method above (also in the user manual as i just found out as i was reading the key section in it). It even says "key programming successful" on the dash as the indicator lights flash. Many thanks to saeb (stewart) for his helpful posts
