I installed a tow bar and Erich Jaeger module and harness to my vehicle that didn't come with a tow pack.

The hardware install was relatively easy and it was good to see the prewiring there.....buried behind the RH rear plastic trim (trim removal pdfs attached).

The trailer lights worked straight away, however a few other mods need to occur......like enabling Trailer Sway Control and cancelling the reverse proximity sensor when reversing with a trailer on.

Forscan sees the new Tow Module (TRM).
Firstly to enable Trailer Control, I tried changing 720-03-02 (IPC) from C00E 003A to C04E 003A.
Under Driver Assist, Trailer Control appeared with the box ticked.

This weekend I'll try changing some of the codes to those of a same year model Ambient that has a factory Tow Pack (from VIN and AsBuilt) and see what happens...

The differences I think might be relevant are:

IPC
720-03-02 C00E 003A change to C00E 00FA
720-05-01 E068 0206 007D change to C068 0206 005D

ABS
760-01-03 4852 3939 30A7 change to 4841 3136 338E
760-01-04 3237 D5 change to 3431 D1

Edit: these don't work. See 4th post.

720-05-01 E068 0206 007D change to C068 0206 005D

will only disable the DAB menu item in the RH screen on the cluster.

I will post all relevant changes up when I get a chance. There are other changes to make it complete. The procedure is still in Forscan's to do list to add the complete procedure although it may fail without a factory TRM which has an empty asbuilt in it anyway. Forscan will do it in their time and I cannot ask for anything else as it is free after all.

Thanks for the heads up on this and totally understand Forscan shouldn't be pushed.
I think we're very lucky it's so effective and freely available.

I was going to install factory Ford kit, however read somewhere that because the EJ module has an original equipment identifier it should work nicely with other modules and it will also be ok with LED trailer lights. I do know it costs significantly less :)

I finally got time to fiddle around with this and I think it's working.
The above definitely doesn't work, the following appears to.

IPC
Change: 720-03-02 C00E 003A to C04E 003A

BdyCM
Change: 726-27-02 0001 0000 0158 to 0001 0100 (the 0158 will become 0159 when written)
726-49-01 0001 0000 0078 to 0001 0001 (the 0078 will become 0079 when written)

PAM
Change: 736-01-01 5498 003A 65 to 549D 003A (the 65 will become 6A when written)

**Admin Edit**
IPC
Change: 720-03-02 to xx4x xxxx

BdyCM
Change: 726-27-02 xxxx x1xx 01xx
726-49-01 xxxx xxx1 xxxx

PAM
Change: 736-01-01 to xxxD xxxx xx
****

Now when I connect a trailer and reverse, park pilot is automatically off and a trailer appears connected to the vehicle graphic on the 8" screen.
If I disconnect the trailer, park pilot comes back on and the trailer graphic disappears. I can still toggle trailer sway control.

I think the Erich Jaeger module works just as well as the Ford OEM trailer module......perhaps possibly better as I have no issues with trailer LED lights.
This is the module and harness

Yes, your are correct and these will be the only required changes on your vehicle. I had a spare minute tonight to confirm them against a data logger whilst running the TRM procedure. I also compare data logger changes to other documents I have to make 100% final call.

Below are the correct changes for your specific vehicle and may not necessarily suit others. But it is a simplified view so others do no change something that may effect something else.

IPC
Change: 720-03-02 to xx4x xxxx ( Add Trailer Sway to Menu )

BdyCM
Change: 726-27-02 xxxx x1xx 01xx ( Trailer lighting fault )
726-49-01 xxxx xxx1 xxxx ( Trailer Module Installed )

PAM
Change: 736-01-01 to xxxD xxxx xx

Your TRM should be all zero's

Vehicles with SODL and SODR ( Higher Range Everests ) Will also require changes.
Base Model Rangers in the FDCIM.

** Please only display the required changes. Someone with a Ranger may type in your whole line and inadvertently change from Ute to SUV or 4 channel sensors to 8 etc.

Well done on your research but please be careful with IPC changes that you may find elsewhere. Changes to certain modules are not as forgiving as the BCM as 1 byte can change a huge amount of items, some possibly hidden.

I have amended your posts so not to confuse others.

Thank you for confirming and formatting my posts accordingly :)

You are completely correct. These changes could very well cause problems for other vehicles or require further changes (Ranger's or higher specc'ed Everest's).

I was worried there may be additional changes required for the ABS module, but this is something I definitely don't want to play around with.
The TRM is now all zeroes.

One thing I did do, was to check the asbuilts for 3 Everest Ambiente's with a close production month (+/-1) and with a factory tow pack.
Even that has it's risks for differences......as seen for DAB......

There is nothing in the ABS module in relation to towing. Its one module to steer clear of, one wrong change in there can lead to corrupt asbuilt and Forscan cannot read it again unfortunately. Numerous times I had to repair it with Fords software but I have other ways around it now.

One thing though, are you seeing any fault codes after all the changes in relation to the configuration?

No fault codes after all the changes.

The only thing a little concerning was that after writing the Trailer Lighting Fault change, it threw a "Read Manual" error on one of the 4" displays. This cleared after restarting the car and all seems good.

I'm unsure why you have PAM 736-01-01 xxxC xxxx xx as your VIN details show it shipped with xxx8 xxxx xx

Anyway the changes for you are the same as the above Everest.

Please advise if it also removes the DTC's as your described. Your vehicle has never had Ford IDS make any change to your current vehicle asbuilt.

As I mentioned in the PM, it didnt have a tow pack or a module initially and it was taken off another everest before delivery, and I have always doubted that it was installed correctly by the dealer.

Anyway, changed the PAM one to "D" and all is good now. DTC's gone!
All the other stuff was there for it already.

btw, my TRM has values in it, and cannot be changed to zeros in FORscan.

You have all zero's. 9A, 9B, 9C are checksums and is not data as such. Checksums are there to confirm the data entered is correct, a check of the data or a comparison. Checksums are not actually stored in the asbuilt lines in the module. So all good.

Dennis you will also need to change;

SODL 7C4
7C4-01-01 from 4xxx-xxxx to Cxxx-xxxx

SODR 7C6
7C6-01-01 from 4xxx-xxxx to Cxxx-xxxx

Tells the Side Obstacle Detection Control Modules that you have a trailer tow pack.

I'm hoping sooner or later everything will be added.I have good runs where they have time to add what I need and other times I just have to wait.

The thing I'm waiting on is for the TRM module install service procedure to be added which will do all these changes automagically just as it does in Fords IDS software.

All the dealer has to do is press one button. The procedure takes all of 3 minutes to complete in Fords software but they never seem to do it with an aftermarket install or do not know it even exists.

I have checked all above block values and the only one that required a change was the PAM block.

I changed that, but TRM DTC still exists.
I cleared codes, went back through the changes I made and all values were correct, but code still present. *shrug*

I will chase them up again and ask when it will be added. I don’t like asking all the time as it is free after all. Sometime asking less is more...

Did this end up getting added? I'm assuming it's meant to be a one click procedure?
I had a look around and couldn't see it in Forscan.

Just fitted a Hayman Reese CAN module to the Ranger.
Trailer Lights etc works out of the box, but want to enable the other features.

I'll give it a go on Monday, unfortunately left the laptop at work :(
I did find those settings in the Module Configuration BdyCM & PAM, which I activated. I was hoping to see the Reverse Sensors be disabled when a trailer plugged in but it didn't happen. Could it be because LED Lights?

I did see this on the Forscan site https://forscan.org/changes_history.html
Under 2.3.22 beta, 2019-05-11

Not sure if it is the same thing you're trying to have added, but I couldn't find it in Forscan version I'm in 2.3.43.

FORScan for Windows

Note: FORScan for Windows has Debug Mode setting enabled by default so debug information is recorded always. So all what user needs is to send the information from the laptop. The instruction below explains how to do it. However, if the Debug Mode setting was previously disabled for some reason, you have to enable it, remove vehicle profile (Vehicles->Profiles, delete vehicle from the list), connect and reproduce the problem before move forward with the steps below.

1. Make sure FORScan is closed.
2. Open FORScan Log folder.
2.1.Windows 7 and older: press Windows Start button->All programs->FORScan->FORScan Log folder.
2.2. Windows 8 and newer: click on the Windows icon at the bottom left corner. Find FORScan group in the list (under letter 'F'). Expand the group. Find FORScan Log folder item in the expanded group and click on it.
3. Folder with logs will be opened, you should see 2 files there: dump.bin and FORScan.log (may be more). Please zip them (if possible) and email to us.
