m_attt is in the UK,

fuel quality may be a big factor? I believe Aus has poor quality fuel compared to Eu.

Good freeways?

My Ranger had ECU update recently, so far it has dropped my average fuel consumption by over 2l p 100km.

My long term base for empty ute is about 11.5 per 100, it had done almost 300km since update and is showing under 9 l per 100.

After an ECU tune actual fuel use v displayed fuel use are likely to be different. 2.5 l/hundred sounds too good to be true but i hope im wrong.

I will check it when I fill up next, although what is left showing on the gauge and DTE tell me it has used that much less as well.

What speed do you tow at?

On a recent long trip mine used Approx 2L per 100 more to drive at 110kph instead of 100kph.

Have you done calculations on actual fuel in and mileage?

My actual has been about .2 L per 100 better than showing on the dash read out.

Try to sit at 57mph, but that was cornwall to London so lots of traffic and stop start so would have been better on a clear run

Mine does the same mileage but not towing.
To get that mileage towing 2.5/3 ton he needs to contact Ford and get them to buy it back as a collectors item.
The fuel can't almost double the norm, so I am not convinced......

I think most know I hate reading about fuel economy figures. There are waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to many variables and factors involved to make comparisons between vehicles.

Road conditions, tyre size and type, pressures, wind, kerb weight, speed, how you use the throttle, cruising speed. Not all sensors are created equal either so this can even impact FE. It goes on and on, some manually calculate and some just look at the cluster.

With my particular vehicle on an open road weighing 2.9t can range from 11.5 to 12.5 lph. I have recently removed my drawers and with same roads am now getting 10.5 lph. In the past when I removed the ARB canopy I was getting under 9lph.

Drop 2kph off your hwy speed and you can even see a really good decrease, turn of the aircon and save another .2 to .3.

Matt is in the Northern hemisphere so the fuel probably spins the other way, no doubt would have to get better fuel economy.

Ambient temp is also a major factor and most will notice better fuel economy in AUS in the warmer months and mornings due to not running so rich for so long.

My 10 cents anyway, I think fuel economy pictures of the cluster should be banned from Facebook.

Following on from my previous post about economy after a recent update.

I can now fairly easily get approx 9.5l per 100 empty with the right conditions, previous I had to pick perfect conditions and drive easy to get 9s.

Real world driving both towing the trailer and without I am getting approx 1l per 100 better.

So now real world normal driving I am looking at around 11.5 per 100 towing my trailer at 100kph and 10.5 just the ute.

The only indicator that I have had an update is that now my increments for cruise control are 1kph where they were 2kph.
