So they broke me.

My 28,000km old Mickey Thompson ATZ pissed me off enough that I replaced them. I could not take the noise and feel of the tyres any longer.

They are still on the rims and will be used as expensive trailer tyres for now.

I have purchased 4 x Falken WILDPEAK AT3W and at approx $950 in total I'm in heavenly bliss. Now they will not last as long as a BF either but for that price I will not argue.

For comparison, I drove to the tyre shop on fcatory standard tyres and rims and oh man what a change. It was like a luxery car again!!

Got the Falken WILDPEAK AT3W fitted and gues what, they are as quiet and not 1DB louder than the factory tyres, amazing!!

Used these on the weekend towing a trailer on some slippery clay hill and were more impressed than the BF's I have had on another vehicle and on road they work so well, quiet, balanced and still look the part with the agressive side walls.

Anyway at this stage I rate them.

What size did you end up going? The Wildpeak AT3W have been getting pretty good reviews lately, comparable to the Toyo AT2.

Same as what I had in the MT. 265/70 R17

Overall I would say they are slightly lighter and this can be felt through the gear changes also.

Just reviving this a little to see how they have fared nearly six months?
One of my friends has them on his FJ, but that this is a noisy tin can anyway.

Would you still recommend them?

Yes, I'm still happy with them.

Unknown what tyre life will be like so only time will tell.

Tyre life is always down to the individual car and driver. I'm still running the factory gear on mine but the shoulders are wearing out. 60 000 Km on the clock. I know of others who have basically perfect tyres at 80K!

Find a better company to do wheel alignments, not someone that does does factory specs.

Since having a custom alignment done, I no longer wear shoulda, tyres are running flat and I can feel the extra postive camber I asked for, especially when cornering. Feels like it is on rails now.

Sorry, I cannot remember.

They are still reasonably local too you and would do while you wait.

Hendersons Suspension
9/27-29 Aster Ave, Carrum Downs VIC 3201

They have been the only shop that has been willing to go out of factory specs though.

If you come down next week, let me know, I'm pretty local.

I had a look at my other tyres which only have 30k on them and outside to inside is 3mm lower. I may put them back in again in another 10k to see if they even out.

Good idea on setting up the alignment so that the tyres "run square". I've not had mine in for an alignment yet, but looks like I might need to as it is pulling to the left.
