Is anyone else having issues trying to upload their Sync3 upgrade confirmation .xml file to the Ford servers after doing their upgrade via USB?
I've tried numerous times over the last couple of weeks with no success. I always get "Oops, something went wrong, please try again!" I have tried on different devices, with and without antivirus & adblockers.
I also note that when I check for an update over wifi, the date checked stays the same. Thinking it's probably linked with the other issue and is something at Ford's server end.
Stewart has tried to help out but cannot connect to the servers due to the more updated package his Sync3 runs.
My unit is now updated to v3.0 build 18093, but the way things are going the Ford owners site won't ever reflect that.
Thanks, Russell

I did an upgrade on Thursday night and had no issues reporting my upgrade.

All it says in my Profile is that I have Sync 3, which it already was, now it's an updated version.

It also tells me there is a new version available, but it's the same one I just installed.

I wouldn't worry about letting them know, the Ford site is totally useless.

Thanks for your report Ross.
I wonder if it might be that anyone who's newly installed Sync3 (from Sync2) might come across this issue? Mmmm.

Does the new version allow for QWERTY by default?

DO NOT upgrade to Sync 3.3 as it has (reportedly) several viruses - I was having issues downloading it onto my Wildtrak simply because of the file size - over a gigabyte - and contacted Clancy Ford in Bathurst to ask for help when the service manager told be to wipe the USB and not to download it as Ford have issues with it, why the hell they (Ford) having put this on their site I'm not too sure but please be warned.

Did an update yesterday, but still shows v3.0 on the screen. Can't see any differences and still no permanent QWERTY keyboard.

My download was 2.26 gb and no installation issues.

The issue with it is that a known bug will not allow Map upgrades now.

Some dealers are doing map upgrades without problems despite a Service Bulleton Warning.

But the problem some have is to render Sync3 unusable an not recoverable.

Same for me.

I think it is the same as it was because of the issue I posted.

They probably removed the new version.

I paid $120 to Ford for the TomTom upgrade memory card and upgraded that before I attempted the Sync 3.3 so my maps are fully up to date and operational. I wont bother with the Sync 3.3 until Ford have resolved all the issues with it.

Unfortunately mine doesn't have a memory card, USB flash only.

Plus no way I will pay for map upgrades.

Some facts regarding Sync 3 to help understand fact from fiction.

Most users need to not get confused with Sync 3, 3.0 with thinking or writing as Sync 3.3. Both are nothing alike and each only apply to a particular year of vehicle. Basically if you have version 3.0 you will not be upgrading to version 3.3.

Anyone wishing for qwerty will not be getting it at this point in time. Nothing has changed even in the final 3.4 release.
3.4 brings a fresher user interface but basically from going from 3.0 to 3.3 you will see nothing has changed, maybe an icon or selectable pre set backgrounds, but nothing else that is applicable to qwerty, type in motion etc. etc. 99.9% of changes are for compatibility for other vehicles or bug fixes.

Basically the only way to fix it is to access the file system and modify one file to allow the qwerty as default and another for typing while in motion.

Map updates on there own should not crash a unit, a software update whilst doing the maps may as per the TSB but 3.3 would have no way to install on a version 3.0 unit anyway.

Latest software updates for units should be as follows;

MY17/MY17 Pre 18.5 version 3.0
MY18.5 version 3.2
MY19 version 3.3
MY20 version 3.4

The TSB only applies to vehicles MY18.5 that already have 3.2 and are updating to 3.3.

Most PX2 vehicle had Pre 18.5

Mar 14 2019 7930 - 2019 Ford Vehicles Equipped With SYNC 3 - Software Version 3.3 Hardware Error Message

Please be advised that the latest level SYNC 3 software for 2019 vehicles is version 3.2. There may be some instances where the Professional Technician Society(PTS) website advises that software version 3.3 is available. Dealers are requested not to update SYNC 3 software to version 3.3 until further notice. Failure to follow this instruction will result in a hardware error message. Engineering are currently investigating the concern and will updated OASIS accordingly.
