Is it possible to "hack" or setup sync3 on 2017 Wildtrak to turn on rear camera, even if its not in reverse?

Also (while on topic) can the front camera be added (like F150 Raptor has it) if i get all the proper hardware? Would that be plug and play option with ForScan activation or is it a bit more complicated?

Thanks in advance!

Pretty much no and no.

I will be doing a complete 360 degree setup and will be tackling some of those issues as part of the project so stay tuned.

Just waiting on some more parts to be bundled up before everything gets posted to me.

that woudnt work? =/

not that you mentiond 360 setup... does that meen that there is a chance that 2017 wildtrak gets auto parking mode like the new 2019 has?

I looked into that last year and the verdict was that it will only work on SOME vehicles up to a certain software version at which point it will stop.

The reverse signal to the Sync3 system is by CAN so unlike some other brands, you cant simply stick 12v onto the right pin on the back of the screen to make it display the camera view.

You could, in theory, spoof the CAN signal to the SYNC3 but it would probably have other unintended consequences and the chances of a major screw-up mean I'm not even going to consider trying it, despite working with some very clever vehicle system programmers.

I've got a front camera kit on my 2015 PX2 Wildtrak with Sync2. I guess Sync3 could be different, but the vendor reckons it should work as well.

360 would be nice - they do a kit for that too, but OEM has to be the way to go if you can. It'll be interesting to see how Stewart gets on.

What are you doing for the 360 setup? I've visited this a few times but get distracted by other things.

Auto parking has nothing to do with 360 degree camera setup. It is totally unrelated.

Still waiting on components, basically will be intergrating a different models 360 system to the Ranger. It will either be straight forward or there may be some tricks required to get it to intergrate properly.

Just playing the waiting game unfortunatly.

No point send a RVC signal as it will keep clashing with the real vehicle canbus message. You would need to filter the 1 message from the bus to the apim then send a new one. Worst case you would get some fault codes if you did not filter it but nothing that would kill things. Chance is it would flash on and off anyway due to both messages being transmitted on the bus.

Hey there,
Just seeing if you’ve had any progress with the 360 cameras?

Have only just moved. Gear is still in a box whilst I slowly get organised. Will be back to it soon.

I bought a cable adapter for installing my camera to my Ranger PX2 XLT, however it doesn't work. Do I have to program something with forscan? the camera works fine when installed in the aftermarket mirror, so it's not camera issue

Yes it will need to be enabled. You can PM me and when I get some spare time in the next few weeks can sort it. Give me your VIN also.

Havent spent anymore time on it. Sick of pulling the car apart and I need to design and print out specific inserts for the mirrors to hold the cameras. I may look at just adding the front camera for now but still having to pull apart the car again is no high on the list.

Cheapest solution for anyone is to buy an aftermarket module to acheive it. Doing it factory components would not be a cheap exercise. Using factory components does work though and worked well on the bench.
