Hi all,

I'm contemplating putting some roof racks on my Ranger. I would like to put a rack on the cabin as well as a rack on the canopy. The only problem I can see is that the aerial will be underneath both racks. As I'm planning to travel through outback Australia over a 7 month trip, I would like to maximize my radio coverage as I will have very poor to no signal. Would it be possible to relocate the aerial and put a longer one mounted from the side of the roof rack? I can find aftermarket aerials easy enough, so no problem with that, and I can make a bracket to mount of from the roof rack. Only thing I can's seem to find is a cable that would screw into the aerial outlet on the roof where the aerial is currently mounted. Only cables I can find are coax cables that plug into the back of radio units. Thoughts anyone?

Cheer, E

Buy a second one to cut apart if you want to go down that route. Honestly I had never thought of it.

Remove the cover, cut off the fibreglass an inch long and you would be able to solder to the copper wire underneath to your new coax. Not sure how it would go on corrugations though but some good heat shrink that has glue is pretty strong and sealed from the weather.

Good luck.

Sorry for the bump on this, did you find something? I feel like I was the only person who wanted something like this and couldn't find anything. And because of covid I haven't been to a stereo shop to see if they do anything
