Ranger Mods

Is there anyone in the western Sydney area west of Parramatta to say Bathurst who is competent with electronics and is able to sort some bugs out ?

Since La Nina arrived and as my Wildtrak is parked out in the open all sorts of weird things have been going on, for example :-
* The pulse rate of my indicators will start normal, increase to almost double then drop back to normal.
* When I go into reverse I have a trailer that isn't connected, go into Neutral and back into reverse and it disappears for a few seconds and re-appears - even though "Trailer Assist" is turned off.
* On several occasions the door chimes have sounded - even though they have been turned off .
* The side mirrors used to fold out as soon as the doors were remotely opened, now they only fold out once the ignition is turned on.
* On occasion the lights wont come on automatically and even when turned on manually they take some seconds to energizer.
* The fog lights are the same, some times tapping the switch works other times they stay off - then come on seconds later.

For the most part I'd say its down to moisture in the various connections and with some hot dry weather it could self-resolve but as La Nina is reported going to be with us on the eastern seaboard until possibly November 2022 I'd really like it sorted before we set off to WA and I'd happily pay someone to fix the issues,

Have you had a look inside the trailer plug?

Otherwise I would look at any wiring that is not standard and check for dtcs.

Bala1; Yes, that's was the first thing that I did as the when I checked with the OE trailer socket last year it was 1/2 full of water and crud, ( see the attached photos, it all entered through a tiny hole possibly caused by a stone thrown up by the rear wheel ) I've since swapped to a "TRAILER VISION" 12 pin socket and plug assembly which is far better sealed, I did check it last week and the inside was bone dry, I have an RedArc "Elite 3" brake controller that may be the culprit. Whats is "dtcs" ??

Ahhhh, Okay, thank you -- at 74 y.o I really have to try harder get up to date with all these acronyms and memorize them, or write them down but then I have to try to remember where I left the list !
The first thing I checked was were there any fault codes with my lap-top and with Forscan to see if there were any faults listed - there were none on Forscan and none on the Ultragauge. I then went looking at the trailer connections and the Anderson power supply from the main battery and the Redarc Elite brake controller - all seem to be okay.
The only thing I have yet to check is taking the plastic lining cover off the tail-gate to see if the camera connections are wet, considering the weather this is a distinct possibility.

And we old farts thought that on pre-1975 British cars and 4WD's that Lucas was the Prince of Darkness !!

My ranger has never been through deep water but I do live in the wet tropics. 5 years and 120k km for the ranger and 70k km for the escape wet weather has only caused 2 wheel speed sensor failures on the escape.

Apart from the engine harness rub point I have not read of wiring harness issues.

Look where you/others have been for damaged wiring.

Thanks for your interest and comments Bala, hopefully I have found a solution and its being looked over by a team of computer "geeks" in a weeks time and at the same location I'm having the auto-box "tuned" and an upgraded heavy duty Torque Converter fitted.
