Ford ANC Active Nibble Control

So, my steering had been annoying me for some time now. Feels like it is always correcting itself and it could come down to the tyres and ANC.

I turned this feature off about 3 days ago and what a difference, I can drive with no correction every 5 seconds.

This may or may change everyone's vehicles at mid to freeway speeds but I definately notice it.

Interesting read... never knew that it even existed. So what's involved in turning it off?

Just an asbuilt change on the PSCM, been looking at it for years but never changed it until now. I don’t have it on me right now but will post up hen I do.

Pretty sure a combination of larger tyres and either chunky all terrains or muds would benifet from the change. Anyway it’s easy to trial it.

not going to lie, I just googled 'Nibble Control' to make sure you weren't having a lend.. :-) it's genuinely astounding the tech they've packed into these cars.

I had a look at this and to be honest I really can't see which line to change.

Old thread but I have noticed since bigger tyres and lift it felt like I was constantly fighting the steering to keep it on the road. Just changed this and immediately noticed the difference out the highway!

Reviving this older thread...
Does switching off this ANC also switch off the pull drift compensation?
I am trying to get my wheel alignment correct but find the steering wheel does seem to sometimes point dead ahead and others just a fraction to the left.
The lightest pull on the wheel to straighten the steering wheel (when it points left) results in vehicle heading to the right.

I figure if i can eliminate the computer interfering I can do a more conclusive test of steering alignment.

I see on the F150 forums they have these options:
730-01-02 x*xx xxxx xxxx Torque Steer Compensation (TSC): 0=disabled, 1=enabled
730-01-02 xxx* xxxx xxxx Active Return: 0=Active Return Disabled, 1=Active Return Enabled
730-01-02 xxxx x*xx xxxx Soft End Stops: 0=Soft End Stops Disabled, 1=Soft End Stops Enabled
730-01-02 xxxx xxx* xxxx Pull Drift Compensation: 0=disabled, 1=enabled

Are they relevant to the Ranger?

This is my current PSCM value:
730-01-02-0001 0101 003D

Seems i have all options except Torque steer enabled which makes sense as that was for FWD cars.

I believe on the Ranger that Pull Drift is 730-01-02 xxxC-xxxx-xxxx-xx 0 being disabled and 1 being enabled.

So that's in a completely different group of bits than the F150?

I did ask the Forscan team about it as well.
They only confirmed the config "looks" the same and added what i posted above into a non asbuilt format for me in a test build.
Problem is i've lacerated my hand quite badly and severed a tendon so can't exactly go fiddling and test driving to see what effect the different settings actually make now...

Once i'm able it would be nice to have the correct data in Forscan for people to be able to use.

An observation from my side wrt the ANC bit. When i adjusted as you posted above i didn't notice any change.
Thought it may be due to my AT tyres not being too aggressive.
Then while looking into this Pull drift story i saw a different config also in a line 1 that looks identical on my Ranger.
It's in Block 1:
730-01-01-0100 0000 003A
Was wondering if that may be the one to change on mine?
Block 2 has:
730-02-01-0100 0000 003B
which was your suggestion.

ANC in block 2 is supported and block 1 is not supported.
Torque Steer is not support at all.
Pull Drift Compensation is supported in block 1 and not block 2.

Just because it shows a description, do not assume it is supported. I have the additional data so can quiet clearly see this.

Attached is your original file with PDC disabled and ANC disabled.

No need for test built, I have them all, cheers.

When i can actually test this I'll load it up.

Are the other options like Active return in the bit positions as i have them in my post?
I may want to see what that does. I'm guessing return to center?

Do you think the lack of difference in steering feel that i experienced with ANC disabled in the past is perhaps down to my tyres not being aggressive enough to notice?
I did try your suggested changed way back and reverted after not noticing a difference.

You may not feel anything if there is just nothing to feel. If tyres and wheel alignment is good then there is generally nothing for it to do.
