has anyone mounted their UFH behind glove box or hidden away? tips for the install? also antenna option with no front bar

do the XLTs come with spare perm power and accessory power in the cabin or under dash fuse box? didn't want to run power cables from engine bay through fire wall.

cheers guys

I took power from back of 12 volt socket under Climate buttons as it will stay on with the accessory power and timeout when everything else does. Default is 60min unless the BMS chooses to turn it off earlier.

The other benefit of doing this is that if it is off after timing out then just press the power button on your car radio and it will bring accessories back online and also give power back to the UHF. After this temp turn on the time out will start counting down again.

For 1.5 years I used a magnetic mount antenna on the roof but the main grommet for the engine bay is accessible and has spare slots so running antenna cable is easy.

UHF is behind and beside the glove box ( LH Pillar ). Was I tight fit where I put it but it worked out well. This will all depend on what UHF you actually use too.

I installed mine under the driver's seat, along with an additional speaker. Plenty of room and the antenna cable drops out through the grommet in the floor right next to the seat, under the carpet.

I've wired up a bunch of terminal strips behind the driver's side kick panel, one for each of 12v main battery, 12v second battery (in the tub), earth, 12v ignition and dash lights. All relay driven to avoid canbus and overloading issues.

is the 60min adjustable? love the idea of hitting stereo power to activate uhf instead of turning on ignition. are the 2 cigs on separate circuits and amp load?

my drivers kick panel is chokers with modules now so no extra room in there now, so the relay runs the ignition 12v and dash lights and the main/aux 12v just straight from their terminals? wouldn't mind seeing the setup was looking at fuse box in cabin or something as was unsure on Ford leaving us any spare power.

60min can be changed using asbuilt changes but it will affect all 12volt outlets and the 240v outlet also.

I find the BMS will turn everything off long before the 60 mins saving your battery to allow starting engine again. You will have no problems running a standard 5 watt UHF off the 12 socket but if you are using some thing else with more current draw then trigger a relay from the socket input instead. Have a look at the 12 v socket fuse and see what it rated too then make a decision if you trigger a relay off it or run it direct. Owners manual will show the fuse location.

guessing both front 12v sockets are on same fuse and maybe the rear tub also?

I dont use cabin ones only the usb's and the tub one on occasion

yeah 5w so less than half an amp, dont think it will overload a fuse even with a fridge.
project added to list.... arb UBP is currently in undercoat in my garage awaiting black paint just waiting for rain to stop.

I intend to run a new cable from the Aux battery to the back of the rear seats of my Dual cab, then install a new fuse box there. From there install my radios behind the rear seat as well. My radios have speakers and all controls on the Mic. I bought a LightForce 3 switch panel to then allow me to run the 2 x microphone outlets to them. Antenna Coax is easy to replace for longer runs if needed.

Then I intend to run a wireless switch panel, from where my sun glasses holder is. With a remote wireless controller behind the seat. From there I can then control all of the lights, winch power, other accessories etc.

Why two radios, I hear you ask ? I run 4WD trips for a club here in Sydney. Multiple radios are very useful in these conditions.

If anyone is interested in what I am up to, happy to share and post pictures.

Always try and share. You may help someone now or you may help someone in the future, showing projects flow give others ideas and ideas leads to something else and.......... its all good. People like picture, well I like pictures.

The more pictures you put up, the less typing you need to do.

pics are good especially when trying to explain an install.

Im more interested about your wireless switch panel and controller relay unit? Seen similar ideas before but now ARB think they have invented it with their new link system.

To access to "fuse box" how do you get to the rear of it? So that I can use one of the spare slots?

You don't access the back of the fuse box on the cabin one that is. It is the vehicle body control module and the fuse mounting pins are mounted to the main board of this module.

BCM non asbuilt, you will probably see a 1 in the power point timeout at the moment.

Oh, I think you have done it now anyway. :)
